i love this comment
"n terms of performance, the V6 Camaro automatic will hit sixty in 6.1 seconds. The 845 pound lighter (!) GTI will it sixty in 6.7 seconds (DSG) or 7.5 seconds (manual). So, basically, what we've got here is 3,750 pound car that performs better than a 2,905 pound car, drives the correct set of wheels, and despite having a vastly larger and more powerful engine, gives up only 3 mpg to the GTI. And to top it all off, it's starts at thousand dollars less? To put in alternative terms, one of the most reviled automotive manufacturers accused of having terrible engineering and products just put out a product that, pound for pound, is in most measured respects superior to the highly praised German engineering that is the GTI, and for less money. Not to mention that the V6 Camaro, thus far, has no major recalls or complaints about reliability. I'm embarrassed for Volkswagen if that's the best they can do with a lightweight compact hatchback. Also, as a side note, the CRX is not coming back. I don't want to be harsh, though. Reply "

Of course there is gonna be bias on this site. Duh!!! If we were to write reviews with many of the opinions up here we would look like total tools. We are NOT writing reviews, we are showing are love and passion for a car. If that makes us defend it in an irrational way sometimes, so be it. If you don't like the bias up here you know where the door is.

it's funny they talk about the mustang improvements. they must be talking about the track pack car. Car and Driver tested the V6 last month, with regular suspension, and they weren't impressed.

Well, Jalopnik just selected ten popular cars and said, "we dig these". That is all, they don't base their ideas off of actual results of any kind. Heck, they state this in the article. They don't care what you think, this is a list of cars they like. (which isn't the camaro(which is no big surprise to me(because they are probably tired of talking about it)))

I've gotta ask: what do you expect to happen on the worlds largest 5th gen Camaro site when our favourite car doesn't get on a purely subjective 'hot list'? That we're going to all agree that its perfectly reasonably for them to think the 2010 Mustang is better? Hell no. I understand that some people here think the Camaro is the greatest car in the world and are blind to the notion that anyone would disagree. A lot more think it fits what they want in a car better than anything else out there and if nothing else, figure it to be superior to its nearest rivals, the Mustang and the Challenger. And they're also in the majority, since its outselling both of them. In fact, I would not be surprised if the Camaro is the best selling sporty car in America under $40,000 right now. So again, what do you expect to happen on the worlds largest 5th gen Camaro site when someone says its historical rival is better?

I think both car and driver along with motor trend ranked the mustang as the better car. Might have been Road and Track that did, but anyhow, two of the big three liked the mustang better. So what? I have the mustang and I like it better, but it doesn't mean I hate the camaro. If the camaro were a little lighter, I would really like it.
The only thing that ever bothers me with fan boy types of posts is NOT their being upset that their car didn't make the list. It's that IF their car had of made the list, they would have posted the link up and yammering on about how their car made another list and how wonderful the ranking was. When people whine because the people who did the rankings didn't place their car on some silly list, it makes them appear juvenile. But then again, most of the people who come to forums and buy camaros are, more than likely, juveniles, so I guess it is par for the course. I have no idea why anyone cares what a magazine thinks. If YOU love your car, then that's all that matters, but I really believe that most people derive the love from their car only if other people like it, but I doubt many would ever admit it. |
