It's supply and demand. People like giant shitboxes. More demand, higher price.

Huge margins on those. Just a big low tech box they can cram full of overpriced options and packages.

Yup. I wouldn't be surprised if GM and Ford make $25,000 on every $50,000 SUV they sell.

I have heard it's been insinuated that the reason GM can price the new Corvette at $62k is they have so much capital from trucks and SUVs they were able to absorb a ton of the research and development costs to price it at that point without losing money.

Read an article about a week ago which mentioned GM will lose $’s on every 2020 Vette sold below $80k. It also mentioned the price would increase in 2021.

They need to dump all those C7s before the C8s start showing up in the spring. I think I read there is some 5,000 C7s sitting unsold on lots. If only the timing was right for me lol.

As far as the ST pricing, all SUV prices are high. a 55K Explorer ST is nothing, a Blazer Premier starts at 46K, you can get a Traverse into the mid 50s its all crazy pricing. At lease with the ST you get 400HP

I have an ST and let me tell you it's a blast to drive. Twin turbo v6 AWD 400hp and 415lbs torque.
You can have the Lexus that are classy and elegant, they're not nearly as much fun IMO, this thing moves pretty good for what it is.
I looked into the big names Lexus, Infinity, Mercedes, all $15K plus and up from what I paid for the ST and not near the performance.
Hell, one Mercedes I was looking at was 65k and didn't even have power third row seats.......

I’m sure it’s a blast, I’m not knocking it for what it is, I think it’s really cool myself..... but still not worth $55k, it’s still an Explorer. Even with that engine and every option it should sticker no more than $50k

Agreed. I don't care if it makes 500 HP it's still just a boosted V6 Explorer. I'm guessing it shares the Lincoln Continentals V6? That things starting MSRP is $55,850. Where does this SUV justify that price? It offers factory performance #'s compatible to a GEN2 Lightning. A ZR2 starts at $41,400 which offers performance (off-road performance) and specialty pieces that justify its cost much better. I will admit the Tahoe RST with a $72K MSRP is also way too much for what you get. As is a GC SRT8 at just under $70K. Still the ST looks to even come with floating 2 pistol calipers unless I just don't know what modern fixed calipers look like. Also the ST just doesn't look the part of a serious sport SUV. If I had to buy an SUV and needed/wanted something sporty I would look at a used TBSS or maybe a GEN1 GC SRT8. These new SUV prices have gotten insane. Hell IMO these older, sporty SUV's look better than the newer ones.

All I'm saying is that $55K is a lot of $, and for $55K it better start hitting some special buttons. I'm just not seeing it. If you want practicality and utility, but also sport you can buy a very low mileage SHO or MKS Ecoboost for about $20K and carry 4 people comfortably, look good, have a very big trunk, AWD, and mod like any other overrated Ecoboost motor. Also very reliable as long as the waterpump doesn't take a dump.

I agree with the 5th gen to 6th gen, but with the mid engine corvette being so different it may steer some people back to the c7.

Want a manual corvette, c7 is for you.
