I've been at my place of employment for 31 years now. Before that I was always working. Something I am grateful for even though I hate working for a living.

I was unemployed for 16 years. Then i got a job at the local Co-op when i turned 16 and have been employed since. lol

Actually it's closer to 17% without jobs if you include people who ran out of unemployment benefits, were forced into retirement, or just stoppped looking, etc...

Lots of laid off people in CA! I'm very grateful to have a job. Longest I haven't was when I got laid off, 3 jobs ago, and took 2 weeks to find a new one. However, today, it would be more like 2+ months, if I were lucky!

Now, if I can get rid of supporting my ex, I could do more mods to The Beast!

4 months in 1999.

Burnt out in a job I held for 4 years (10 years military before that), one night I watched a movie called "Return to Paradise", gave me an idea.....Next day, I went to see a travel agent and bought 7 plane tickets to different countries, went to work and told my boss I needed emergency vacation (had no plan to return to work), packed my bags and off I went. 1 month later, I called into work with intent to give my official resignation but got told I was getting laid off and had me provide a mailing address overseas to send my severance pay. 4 months later, I came back and landed a job right away and have been working since. But I did work as a Door Man at a Gentleman's Club (see the "Black Rain" movie to get an idea of kind of club) in Ropponggi, Tokyo to make some money during my 4 month hiatus. Good old days...

December 31st will be my final day on the job. The plant is shut down, and will be demolished in 2010.

Lied on a job app to get a job at 15 when I had to be 16. Even had to drive w/o a license for the job. Never been unemployed since... 48 now...

Oh yeah... threw newspapers before that and mowed lawns before that...

I am still putting in applications everywhere I can.. only ones that have responded had flatly turned me down.. most won't even let me know anything...
BTW. My old department where I retired from had their Christmas party yesterday... they told the people that was still working they had invited the retirees.. all 4 of us in my group that "Retired" in April did not receive an invitation...
It sucks to work for someone for 32 years and then they throw you out like last weeks garbage...

Ive worked at the movie theater for 6 months now. before then i helped with the family business up in new york. i wish i could do something a bit more meaningful while i go through college.......
