Thanks sherob, and Thank you to everyone else for your thoughts. The joke is on them because I love my car and if they don't meet my needs, then I'm still happy. I'm also gonna test drive the crap outta the entire inventory so I'll get a bunch of smiles per gallon on the dealerships dime

They don't need your car. They "need" your new monthly payments when you fall for this absurd marketing ploy.

Turn around and walk away. Better yet RUN!

I get these annually from the last three dealerships, all of which desperately want cars I don't own.

50 percent of their work is getting customers in the door and then taking your keys to appraise your vehicle. Want your keys back, no why don't you take this new x to lunch and bring it back after.

I recently bought a new car for the wife and after days of talking with salesman, we agreed I just wanted her ford to cover ttl. I didn't care about monthly note but overall loan.

Day of sale, 4 hour drive over they keep giving me monthly notes and are confused when I keep saying i don't give a f if it's 300 or 1000 a month tell me my loan out the door. Turns out they were only giving me 250 dollars for my wife's one owner ford. I let them have it and after walking to the exit twice with my wife in tears, we now have a great new ford. I hate those frs

I always enjoyed when those letters went out when I was still in the car business.

But as others said, it's a mass mailing out of their database, they just want to sell you another car and hose you on your trade. The letter says they are in desperate need of your trade but when you get there it's a different story. Good call on keeping it.

Dealer

My Nissan dealer needs my 2016 Murano Platinum and the Chevrolet dealer needs my 1LE. Just marketing and sales BS.

The kia dealership keeps trying to get my wife's 2011 back because they "need" it on trade.

No, they just want to offer me $8 and a free bottle of water for it and get me to buy a new one. Hard pass.

Nah, they just click at the top right of the xcel spreadsheet to sort by dealer profit and contact them first. If they were able to make $10k profit from them the first time they are the best mark, er I mean customer to contact again.

Just kidding(?) I think if you take it in for service you get added to their spam list too and might someday get those. Similar to getting a drivers license then getting the jury duty notice someday.

This^. Dealers are just trying to make a buck, and paying you the trade in price, and then selling you a new/used car at a mark up.....simple math.

I would believe that if you move up to the ZL1, then there's room for them to give you what you want for your car. At least they make it seem like that. Find out what you can do on a clean ZL1 purchase without trade in. Then you'll know how much they really will give you when you drop the news that you now might be interested in trading in your old Camaro.

I agree. I sold a base Charger to a guy who spent who knows how much money turning it into an RT. He then came back and traded that car in a year (or less) later an bought the real RT and stuck money into it by putting an SRT hood on it. Then, yes, a year later came in and bought a real SRT. Those letters work. By the time it was all done he was welded into that SRT with an enormous monthly payment and upside down so far there is no trading again.
