Full time AWD, but FWD biased. This is what's on the website:

This intelligent system constantly monitors road conditions and driver inputs to send the appropriate amount of torque to the rear wheels. As a result, you get traction and handling that is optimal for existing surface conditions. The WED system pro-actively sends torque to the rear wheels during acceleration minimalizing the chances of wheel slip. In demanding conditions such as when the front wheels are on snow or ice, the AWD controller commands additional torque to the rear axle to result in smooth, seamless acceleration.

WOW... and I just bought my mom a 2008 Equinox Sport last year...
I agree. I like the Terrain better even if I know you pay a premium and its the same damn car. The looks really are that much better to me.

You don't pay much of a premium for the Terrain actually. It has more standard content than Equinox.

Exactly... The AWD system is essentially the Haldex system used originally in the TurboX.. and now being used in everything coming out of GM with AWD on the back

Plus.. as my wife says... "it's tougher looking.. more of a truck look than the Chevy."

Meaning GMC did their job

The look of the Terrain is a little more "man friendly", but even my wife prefers the look of the Terrain over the Equinox.

Funny, the general consensus when pictures were first shown is that the Terrain looked awkward, to put it nicely

you know the gauge surrounds look like the Camaro. i think they've hit the happy medium with these things between the old minivans and suv's.

Looks much better in person. Lines flow better. Looks better in motion too.

I agree!! The Terrain squared off wheel wells makes it look to much like the Pontiac Aztec for me. To each his/her own!!!

I fail to see any similarity between an Aztec and the GMC Terrain, not to mention the quality of the Terrain is 1000% better. As Fenwick stated, the body lines do flow nicely when you see the Terrain in person.

Its not the fenders that made the Aztek awful, it was the hunchback, the pointless attempt to make the front end look sporty, wheels that were out of proportion, and generous amounts grey exterior plastic (on earlier models).
