In cali you cant have a 30 round mag. Nor quick use of the release button on the side? has to be 10 round magazine, and LOCKED in place, you need to see saw your rifle to load from the top... ew. Talk about not being really efficient huh...? lol.

Marine?

How long ago? Recent? What kind of mags did you use?

If I were looking to buy an EBR and couldn't leave CA, I'd be thinking Keltec SU-16CA. The CA was built for CA's sucky laws and I like it a lot more than any CA legal AR I've seen. I also think the Mini-14 is a CA good option, but the SU-16 uses AR mags and iirc it has a thicker barrel.
I was actually looking at that too, the SU-16CA do strike me happy, but havent shot one :\ and how much do typically run for?

I mean I want the thing to function but also a big issue is I dont want it to be butt ugly, and the KT's SU doesnt look ugly.

On me right now is just a Rat Cutlery RC3 on my right in my converse. Mmm and a sog flash II in my pocket. But when I am in So Cal or Colorado my standard fair is a Kimber SIS Ultra, or a Springfield XD Sub-Com 3 incher, in 40 s&w for my concealed carry. I usually have a smith and wess small frame, as a backup, but have since switched to taurus 605 pug nosed little monster. Not very accurate past a few feet, but great defensive backup to the little brat of a XD.

I am actually starting to love my XD's more then my glocks. if it wasnt for the 1 hg a month bullsh*t in cali I'd have more.

And I like my evil features for rifles just fine hehe. Seriously though. Stupid laws. very very stupid laws. Didnt they start cause a bank robbery where guys had AW's and leo's had a hard time dealing with them?

They should just do BG checks if someone cant even own a simple shotgun or a handgun, they cant have an AR same deal, presto. An AR can kill people sure, true. But so can a Nighthawk T3 with a large capacity round magazine. or a shotgun, or a bolt rifle, and etc. Its all really stupid. ugh. It would be like saying fast cars cause to many accidents, so all cars will be limited to 25 mph. and fierce machines like the z06 or zr1, the challengers, mustangs, camaros, etc. anything that produces loads of power....is illegal unless you submit to having watered down versions.

I'm going to the Del Mar Gunshow next month. Evil features: Pistol grip, pistol grip forearm, Telescoping stock, rifle lenght under 36". Gunshows have the mod that you can install in a 30rd mag for $15. I've been to the range here in San Diego, most cops don't mind. They'll ask you questions about your rifle and get certain info off of you. As long as you don't act like a jackass, most of them won't bother you. They usually stop when I tell them I make frequent trips to the Sand Box. Its the Law Enforcement Personnel that are not familiar with the gun laws that will give the most grief. You can open carry a handgun but expect to go to jail or be detained for a while. When that happens, I hope you have a Snickers Bar :"Going anywhere".

I've never been hasseled with my brothers rifle its 16 inches, at the range. Mmmm maybe cause he knows everyone lol. But my new toy when I get back will have normal grip, tele stock, eotech on top, surefire light, etc.

I cant wait for gun show toy shopping. Its why Im trying to save $ right now.

I wanna do 30 mag convert to 10 round, cause I love my tapco and magpuls. But nobody is selling them as is, or converted. ugh.

Im assuming you have an AR? Whos your make?

J&J Armory in Santa Ana has a really really nice basic yet loaded rifle for $1,950 I think? I am opting for that AFTER the gun show. I'm selling my chopped up sportster to free up more money, also my gsxr 6 I need more cash

I love how you toss in oh the bullet button lol.
I think im ganna use the new e2d for light power, 200 lumens. opposed to 125. What kind of handgun is your go to gun?

My philosophy for home is pistol and shotgun, since I am always worried about over penetration. Shotgun will put down and is perfect cause usually wont go through a wall or at the most 3 other walls. I would secure family members with shotty, and if I had to carry my little cousin I would probably hold her in one arm, and switch to XD 45. But thats just for home instance of what I'd use. 1911's are great but capacity and I've had failures even among higher end guns I own like wilson and nighthawk, so I made full switch to polys a while ago. But I keep revolvers and etc just cause I can, and are fun to have and use.

Im debating on camera purchase now. Nikon D90 for the cheap easy buy here and now. Or the Nikon D700.

Sig P228 is my side arm of choice. I wanted another one I'd go with the USP. Camera, I'd go with the D90, I bought a D80 beginning of the year and now I regret it. Don't get me wrong the D80 is awesome but lacks a certain option features. Spend the extra on the D90. You get to video in HD.

I wil try and find the link but I saw a neat video a while back comparing small caliber like .40 to 12ga and 223 for home defense. Couple of those tactical kinda guys setup several layers of sheet rock a few feet apart and the 223 had the lowest impact, it shattered where the .40 tumbled and the 12ga blasted through several. I have argued the 12ga as the best home defense forever but I guess when you are worried about penetration you can always research more..I REALLY LOVE PENETRATION THOUGH!

I would use a M-4 style rifle to clear a house. Shotgun for the Zombies. Sidearm for pistol whipping when someone says 'shenanigans'.

Reading this makes me ever so glad I do not live in CA. what are they trying to make sure the bad guys are better armed than your average citizen?

What a joke!

Haha, I bet you do! Funny, cause my BF says the same thing . And well even a mossbery 500 or 590, remmy 870 are HUGE for me, and the recoil is coming to becareful of since I'm not very big. Another item I actually like and cant wait to buy cause I've already played with is the Taurus Judge, shoots shells and bulls. Nice combo! But for speed and ease to put someone in front of me down, I have enough range and course time with my 9mm's and 40sw's. 45acp'er's included. Wow, bad grammer and spelling right there

SG is just for penetration issues, I'd never have to worry about that in places like our Colorado place or parents other homes in other states, most are secluded. So other toys would be just fine. How funny would it be if someone small like me was playing day to day basis with a barrett fifty lol. Wow...I feel so tiny.

When neighboring homes and etc are so close in prox, over penetration and fatal cross over to a neighbors home becomes YOUR responsibility and YOU can go to jail if you seriously hurt or cause fatal injury to someone else, even if you were defending youself against an unrelated threat in your own home. You assume all responsibility. One should always be aware of their target, whats around and beyond it as well the area you are in and its outer surroundings. Shotgun for Zombies? lol Humor is noticed but not really realistic.

SA for upclose and such, sg for same purpose and sweeping, and an ar for long distance. Only time I'd use a shotgun other wise would be with slugs, I have taken a bear once on a trip with our family with a remmy spitting those.
