Damn. Kudos to the car and driver! Though it looks like the ZR1 understeers a lot through the medium speed corners. Personally I like cars that are biased towards oversteer. Hope that Camaro is.

WOW I was sweating myself. Even my hands were tired from griping my dinner plate steering wheel and shifting my fork. I am going to have to take a nap now.

There were a few spots I think that could have been improved, too (couple of corners)...if they were, and that headwind wasn't there....I think they could have scraped a 7:25 or so, easily. Still, VERY impressive, and VERY cool videos! GOOD JOB, Team Corvette!!!!!

I can't wait for the Camaro's video.

The General has released the in-car footage of the Corvette ZR-1 lapping the Nurburgring in 7:26.4, hitting 180 mph at one point on the 12.9-mile course and beating out the Z06's time, set in 2005 by Jan Magnussen by almost 17 seconds. Jim Mero is behind the wheel and just as a reminder; the lap was done on the same Michelin Pilot Sport 2s as the production model, and retains the same ride height, engine calibrations and emissions equipment, along with running pump gas.
When they hit 180, MY adrenaline was pumping, any car enthusiast should watch this.
I saw multiple spots where he lost time, I still believe a professional can shave a couple if not a few seconds off the time.
By the way, I'm new to the forums, although I have been lurking since before Transformers came out.

As far as the vette being faster than the GT-R, all i have to say is i told you so. That older GT-R thread almost everyone said there was no chance.

It would be a massive embarassment to GM if they couldn't beat the GTR's time. You don't compare the base corvette to the mustang GT. Likewise, don't bother saying that the ZR1 is faster than the base GTR.

go to www.garage419.com and see a video where they put this video and the GT-R video side by side. Really fun too watch and see where they catch up to each other or where they pull away.
