For me I see one segment that has no one in it from the big 3. The full size 2door sport 4WD SUV. Bring back the 2door Tahoe and Yukon. You add a modern day engine and maybe a diesel option and 10 speed auto and it would be a beast! And with low gas prices for now and the foreseeable future people are now looking to get out of the small car and get something beefier. And we all know profit margins are much better on SUV's than cars... you hearing me GM!
Would like to see it too. But with frame changes, crash testing, different panels behind the front 2 doors, roof etc. The costs would exceed the potential market. While I think they would be a great vehicle as you describe. They would be priced very close to the 4 door variants. Would also guess the depreciation would be much higher the initial first 3 yrs.

I looked for a little while a few yrs ago trying to find a 90's version that was not wore out, rusted out or over the top miles w/o any luck.

Would also like to see the 6.2L 10 speed reg cab short bed in the upcoming 2019 trucks. Honestly both Chevrolet & GMC should offer it(current 6.2/8 spd) on the outgoing K2xx truck lines in LT/SLE trims. But am sure they would price it out of reach of the target market share.

I actually just bought a '99 2 door Tahoe LT Z71, one owner, 114K miles, full documentation Texas/Cali so no rust, in excellent condition, and paid a little over 7K and that is a steal. A 2door Tahoe in that condition I can easily flip for 10K maybe as high as 12K should I desire. A 4 door Tahoe would not even be worth half as much.

The Tahoe's used to take a big depreciation hit, but with low gas prices they are back in demand and do not depreciate as much. And I think if GM made the 2 door Tahoe's again(and did them right) they might hold their value as well as the Ford Raptor.

My 2 cents.

Sounds like you found a good one & got a great deal. I'd love to see them again, don't get me wrong. Thinking if GM had the market share/loyalty they had back in the 80's into the 90's, they could make one work. But now with so much competition & families having access to every sort of cruiser with multiple doors & folding seats, it would mainly get passed over. GM seems to be shying away from niche markets these days.

Also wish Chevrolet had a Chevelle ready to go as the SS was phased out this year. Maybe build it at the Lansing Grand River plant along with the Camaro & Cadillacs on a similar platform? It could have been cool.

In a sense GM did resurrect the Chevelle, it`s called the Malibu now. GM doesn`t need to bring back old name plates, they need to keep building on and improving on the one`s they already have. Too many divisions and brand names is what got them in financial trouble to begin with.
