I did have a 2001 500 HO sportsman. I dont think they make the HO anymore since they have the twin cylinder engines. Great bikes best I have ever owned. True 4x4 not limited slip like honda or yamaha. I have had them all from grizzleys to Ranchers and the Sportsman blew them all away.

Yes they still make high outputs. The sportsman and scrambler 500ho and the sportsman 500efi ho amd 400 ho sportsman. Then they have the 800 twin

It really depends on the bike's purpose in life. if your looking for something to get the job done, whatever the job may be, then a sportsman 500 is right up your alley. in fact polaris is almost the only way to go. i might also recommend looking what arctic cat has to offer. If your looking for a rough an tumble trail beast then i recommend a can am renegade or kawasaki kfx 700, if you looking to pick something up cheaper look for an old polaris scrambler or bombadier DS-650 (this is a bike i own, its like a cadillac, big, powerful, squishy). last but not least you have the hotrods. there are to many options here so ill narrow it down quick. 450. anything 450. i recommend the yfz 450 (cousin owns one, so much tourque on that bike), but anything 450 should suffice. if your just learning to ride then get a 400. there is a saying out in the sand dunes: "the better bike you have the less rider you have to be, why do you think mine is so souped up?" im not saying pick up the baddest hotrod out there cuz, quite frankly, it will scare you away from the sport. these are all bikes that ive ridden and found decent enough to vouch for.

I have a scrambler 500 and a couple years back i was spinning around on the ice revving up pretty high

and then there was a loud bang ended up somehow in order for the four wheel drive to turn on this part

has to move forward and they said the vibrations caused it so when the back wheels were spinning like 60

or so mph the front wasnt at all and when it engaged all hell broke lose haha 3 heads broke of the bolts

that connected the part and then the other 2 were stipped out then that shot out and hit the case and

cracked it and it was one month out of warrranty so it cost me 700 to fix it i was pissed and no where

in the manual did it say not to do this kind of action for that might happen and polaris still wouldnt pay for it.

And sorry for not knowing in more detail what happend i was young then and that is all my dad really told me haha.

The wife and I have been thinking of getting a couple new quads or a side by side. We are either getting 2 Yamaha YFZ 450 or a Polaris RZR S.

Or if I can come up with the cash we will be getting this.

i vote for the high jumper. with the way the dunes get torn up these days the comfort is invaluable, especially because you can still cruise it as you "get old". just my .02.

I have a Yamaha Grizzly.

I think all the top-shelf brands are pretty good, just make sure you have a dealer with a good shop because I guarantee you'll break stuff if you use it like you're supposed to. It won't be warranty stuff either.
