If Chevy had actually advertised the SS with some decent marketing it would have sold better. Unfortunately no one really knows that it even exists. Kinda the same problem Pontiac made with the G8. If you don't advertise it then how will the public know about it. Ultimately, the SS was a niche car that GM didn't expect to sell for more than a few years, much like the 94-96 Impala SS. If the SS looked more like the Commodore, then they'd definitely be giving Dodge a run for its money in the domestic RWD sedan market.

I like the Kia from certain angles but there is certainly a lot going on with those taillights wrapping around the quarter panel. I'm also not keen on the hood and front quarter panel lines. Interior looks nice though. It'll be interesting to see what the pricing is on this. I'm thinking 40k is probably the price point.

The problem with the ss is it is/was wayyy overpriced. I mean 45-50k for a non luxury, rwd slightly larger Malibu (no I'm not serious on that part) is a stretch. Imho if they had done better marketing and maybe priced it around 35k they would have sold like hot cakes.

Except the SS basically is a luxury car with how much equipment comes with it. You get what you pay for and everyone who owns one attests to that.

I know, that's why I mentioned it was a niche car. If however, GM wanted to compete with Dodge, just let the Holden designers have free reign and it would compete with the Charger. Tell me you wouldn't drive this car over a Charger. This is what the SS should and could have been.

HSV is a joint venture between Holden and Walkinshaw so it's like buying a Shelby Mustang.

Don't get me wrong, I'm no Kia fanboy, but I respect the brand now. It has come a long ways.

With that said. What does everything think of the new Kia Stinger? I like it. I think the front end might look a bit strange, but the more I look at it the more I start to get over it. Also, the car looks a bit long. Otherwise....I love it. I even like the interior a lot.

TTV6 365HP

RWD or AWD

Thoughts???

What type of transmission does it have?

TT365 to start. Imagine the aftermarket for this thing stage one etc.. Could be very impressive performance.

I saw this in person at the DC Auto Show. It's sporty. I just can't get over the badge for some reason. Didn't Hyundai omit their badge on the Equus?

I don't really have any further comments on this car at the moment since my opening post, other than as others have said...price will determine how well this does.

But people do seem to like this car. I showed it to my boss and then he showed it to his wife and they are interested for sure. They could afford better, but they tend to lean towards not spending big bucks (good for them)....but they also like something that looks sporty so this fits in with what they want.

That said, I'm thinking a mostly loaded AWD version with the TTV6 is going to push the 40K or better mark. Can't say I'd blame them if it did, and the car was a good performer. Where else would you be able to find a loaded, sporty AWD car for under 40K?

But hopefully I'm wrong and it will be lower. Then the RWD version should end up more in the mid 30s range, which would be pretty great in my opinion. This car could end up being a hit....or dud. I can see it going both ways, but I do think Kia has something here.

On another note...

I figured this might turn into a bit of an SS thread. I really like the SS, but there are certain things about it that just put me off. I have actually given real thought to trading my Camaro SS for a used SS sedan seeing as how its a much more practical ride (although my Camaro isn't my daily driver...but....kids) If it only looked more aggressive, or maybe if it had the LT1, or something else I'd jump. But I just can't. Maybe I'll change my mind in the future.

If you haven't sat in a KIA for the better part of a decade, then you probably should revisit. They are nowhere near as terrible as they used to be. I'm quite impressed with KIA and how far they have come.

LOL, point me to another car that has what the SS has at 35k.

Kia has definitely gotten better over the past decade. The interior looks good and it does seem similar to Porsche's sedan but I think they tried too hard with the taillights. I do like that blue though. Sharp color.

If they market it correctly and give options for different performance levels like say a base v6, then a ttv6 as the top level then they'll give Dodge some competition for the mid level RWD sedan market.

My bad BTW for turning this into an SS thread. When I saw the SS comments I went off topic so I apologize for that.
