Plus, I want to see what Vengeance Racing can do with one. I am sure it's going to beastly. Did I say beastly? I meant,......disgustingly beastly!

Did you see what they did with the '16 Camaro SS?!?!

what is your story
Having a 2012 ZL1 in the garage, I can tell you that you will not find a better all around Camaro. The options that were not available in 2012 are available now. Recaro seats with heating and cooling, memory adjustment, Rev Match, PDR, bigger brakes, a better chassis and 230 pounds less weight. Electronic diff., more cooling and an extra 70 HP. All of this equals a better ZL1 than mine. The only advantages that mine has over the 6th Gen. is a little bigger trunk and a better sound (subjective I know). I had a chance to spend a lot of seat time in the new Recaros at the 50th Ralley in Lansing and can tell you it is a great seat and I'm glad that they did not delay their introduction like they did with 5th Gen. ZL1's. For those of you that have never had a ZL1, it will not take you long to figure out how great car this is. I do not want to take away from the rest of the Camaro lineup, 1LE, SS and LT's, they are great cars but the ZL1 is truly the Leader of the Pack. Enjoy your new ZL1's and drive safely.

I'm 47, spent my entire adult life doing little more than working. I've been saving the money from one of my jobs for the last four years for a ZL1. Will be my first camaro or GM car for that matter (mopar family). I've been waiting a long time, will continue to wait as long as it takes.

I hemmed and haw'd about it since the ZL1 was announced. And while yes I could afford it, financially it did not make a lot of sense.

It was a great looking ride with a ton of horsepower, and finally I talked with a coworker and he summed it up perfectly. You are not promised tomorrow, have fun today.

So I ordered my 5th gen in April 2013.. and have never regretted the decision. I love the ride. Superb power, great handling.. and the coolest part, I catch people taking pictures of it when I have it parked. I remember a little boy, couldn't have been more than 5 years old, pointed to my car and told his Daddy, "I want a picture with this car." That just blew me away.

Now the 6th Gen ZL1 is just around the corner.. and I am again debating whether I want to take the plunge on a new car again.

F' it, you only live once.

He is alluding to the ridiculous CAFE mpg numbers (that the Obama administration pulled out of its ass) that auto makers have to conform to if the DIM's stay in control of the Whitehouse after this next election and by proxy the EPA and NIH.

Don't want to derail the thread, but I don't think many people have been keeping track of this. The initial number was an estimate to be achieved by 2025, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen. I would've be too worried just yet..

Below is from a recent publishing (July 2016).

"Senior administration officials told reporters on a conference call Monday that the 54.5 mpg goal was never a mandate but more of an estimate of where the industry could be by the 2025 model year. That estimate was based on an assumption that 67 percent of the market would be cars and 33 percent would be SUVs, crossovers, pickups and other light trucks.

But customers haven’t moved from their desire to buy SUVs, crossovers and trucks. Now the government estimates the overall fleet average fuel economy will hit between 50 mpg and 52.6 mpg by the 2025 model year. The new estimates assume a more even split between cars and trucks in the marketplace.

The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers, a trade group for 12 carmakers and the Detroit 3, said in a statement that “excessive regulatory costs could impact both consumers and the employees who produce these vehicles.”

...

The EPA will make a final determination on the 2022 to 2025 model year regulations by April 1, 2018."

That's what I'm thinking. The regulations will be lowered, one because they are a random number the pulled out of nowhere which happens to be really high and two because more people are buying trucks and suv's. Once again buyer demand rules over all. Don't forget that this number is a fleet average not per car. So camaro's and other cars like it will not go away, they will just have to be offset by the little Eco cars.

All that is if the dem's win the whitehouse this year but you know the repubs's control congress now to. But if the repubs's win then this is not an issue

I want a ZL1 because I think the sheer power of the car and knowing you own it and control it, is amazing. I can afford it, but financially there are better uses for my money than can help me in the future in case things go south. Luckily I still own a 16' 2ss which can hold me over. Also, being the first new car I ever purchase and seeing how much is discounted so quickly, I think a used zl1 will be for me, if I ever purchase one. I'm hoping my life takes me to an r8 when I'm ready to purchase another new car .

My only problem with is mentality is that people get into ridiculous debt thinking "life is too short". I have plenty of friends who are doing just that and I see their credit cards being rejected often. And they are making WELL into 6 figures!!!!!!! As long as it's within the budget and there is nothing you can put the money towards that can help you out, go for it!!

Life is short and can end unexpectedly.
I had a hernia repair in july and with it came a blood clot in my leg 2 weeks later that went to my lungs. A pulmonary embolism almost took me out at age 46.
I say F**k it and spend your money. It can end at anytime.
