Here is a 2SS with 25mm spacers and BMR lowering springs.
Here's the before and after. Before: After: |

Looks to me like with stock springs, 20mm spacer is the max I'd do, as the rear seems to be sticking out well past the fender, but with the car lowered, you can get away with a bit more and go with the 25mm.

yeah its because of the camber change when you lower the car. This car had not had an alignment after the spring install in this picture.

Is a spacer really safe though? I mean I have personally witnessed a car at an autocross track lose a wheel that had a spacer on it.

These are for the Gen 5 I believe.. the Gen 5 and Gen 6 have the exact bore size and the fitment over the hub is flush. |

Quality hub-eccentric spacers are known to be be very safe as long as you torque them to spec w/ a flush fitment. They are not one size fits all spacers and is design specifically for your car. They are not cheap especially from major brands like H&R and Eibach (Million mile warranty for Eibach). Ran these to 100 mph and not a single vibration, feels good and the handling is immediate. Best spacers I have used thus far. |
