Wow.. I've seen the condensed version on TV countless times and have never been able to pinpoint the language used. It's Hungarian (or a dialect of some sort possibly more toward Austria because I can hear the Germanic elements in it as well).

The more I read into the history of Halo, the more I realize why it's become such a heavy hitter in the industry. I mean, to date.. I've never read a piece of halo lore nor played any of the games.

Ever.

Now I'm a sad panda for having overlooked this for so long. ;_;

It's Hungarian. There's a "making of" video as well...

The making of movie's on Gamespot if you are interested. Real East German drill instructors were used, so get a little R. Lee Ermey of the East action.

I had the same hopes for DOOM the movie.

Lets downs in it was the over use of cursing, it seemed forced.

And not enough time, the movie is so short, takes longer then that to get through all them levels Should be about 6hrs long, good 4 hrs of nutin but level clearing action.

All the trailers and stuff for the game were sweet, but the game I was slightly disappointed in. Don't get me wrong I love to play it and have a blast doing it, but it just didn't live up to the hype. Still definently love getting to play as a different person while the same stuff is happening.

Wasn't Peter Jackson gonna do it? Each one of the Lord of the Rings movies he did (uncut) were about 4 hours in length. I had high hopes...

yeah i think he bailed to make District 9 or whatever. I didnt see that movie but i heard mixed reviews about it. As far as game play i stopped playing Halo when Halo 2 came out, it was a complete let down. I was going to assume that because they dont show gameplay that it the game may not be good aswell.

And yes i was exited about doom the movie, then i heard the rock was in it and then I went flacid.

I wish Bungie would make a movie. They have no idea how much money they could make regardless if its bad or not, I would bet every person who bought a Halo game would see it. Lets say 20 million people bought a Halo game and a movie ticket is 10 bucks, they made 200 million. But i guess we will only have to hope =(.

Yea I think so, DOOM just seemed rushed almost like a demo game.
Just enough to make ya like it the first few times but its soon becomes a let done as it over so quick.

Casting was ok, that lead chick freaked me out though how she had that perm shocked look on her face like a bad botox job.

Hey folks. Long time lurker, first time poster. Just was wanting to set some things straight(assuming they haven't, heh).

The live-action ads for both Halo 3 and ODST are done by Neill Blomkamp. His commercials for Halo 3 were so successful that Microsoft asked that he'd direct the movie, and he accepted. Peter Jackson was going to be the producer of the movie, not the director. After the script went to Fox and Universal, there were a number of arguments about how it was going to be done, especially with the rules Microsoft put in place. After a bit of arguing, the script was in limbo and the movie just kinda died. No filming was ever done. Don't think much pre-production was done.

Jackson was disappointed in the fact that Blomkamp didn't get to do the movie and wanted to give him a shot at making a silver screen movie(he has done movies, but none this big). Taking the chance, he went on to make District 9(a different take on Alive in Joburg, his first movie). The failed Halo movie upset a number of people, and last I heard Stuart Beattie was working on a script(without Master Chief, I think) and Spielberg is producing. I really wish it was still done with Blomkamp at least just b/c I think the live-action Halo ads will be hard to top. I won't say I'm following the movie like a hawk, but I'm a fan enough of Halo to have kept track of it every once in a while.

The clips of the "halo movie" in that youtube vid are all spliced together clips of the ODST ads, the live-action Halo 3 commercials, and Halo Wars(that wasn't even Bungie!).

Oh, and Doom was a terrible movie. It was a Resident Evil wannabe. How do you make a movie of Doom and leave out cyberdemons, imps(real ones, not "infected"), and Hell?

Yeah I didn't think they made any footage of the Halo movie. But I'm sure the movie will be a big letdown just like every other game-inspired movie. They always mess with the original story (obviously the story was good or the game wouldn't have sold in the first place :/), and most of the those game movies all looked rushed.
