Thanks for the reminder, I wouldn't shoot unless someone started walking towards me or my wife, or had a gun.

This was a real eye-opener for us, I know nothing happened, but it felt like something did. Thanks for the replies.

If they're in your house doesn't that fall under the "Castle Law"?

Not in Texas we have the "Castle Law" here we just shoot first.

Varies by state. In fact, the definition of your home varies by state. I believe in TX it extends to both your house and the property on which it sits. Some states use the 'imminent threat' standard so the location of the shooting doesn't so much matter as your state of mind at the time. And of course, your state of mind is always open to being attacked in civil court by the shootee's attorney, even if you're cleared of legal charges.

Part of why I'm such a huge advocate of taking a few classes because practically every state has different standards.
