This 100%. The Grand Sport has the same N/A, LT1 powerplant as the standard Stingray and the Camaro SS. It is essentially a Z06 without the supercharger. If you want quicker 0-60 times & 1/4 mile times, buy a Z06 with the LT4. BTW, they are awesome looking cars. The prices of new vehicles are simply getting to be outrageous though.

Car and Driver just tested one. I was kinda disappointed as it was barely any quicker then the SS they tested. 3.8/4.0 and 12.2/12.3...figured more of a difference considering the Camaro is heavier. Guess the Camaro continues to over achieve.
The July C&D has the times at 3.7 and 11.9 for the auto. Automobile Mag just tested it and it pulled over 1.2g's in a few corners. That's where the improvement is. The Camaro isn't pulling 1.2g's anytime soon and that's going to include the new ZL1.

I hope C&D has both the GS and the ZL1 for their Lightning Lap issue. I'd imagine both cars would be sub 2:50 lap times, especially if they go with the 10 speed auto in the ZL1.

big fan of the GS. problem for me is when i surf lots base '16 Z06's are priced the same or lower than the MSRP for the '17 GS.
even the Z verts are lower. so package and looks aside i'd buy the 650hp '16 for the same money.

This is exactly how I feel about the GS. It's a Z06 without the LT4...for the same price as a Z06.

THIS. I bought my 2LZ Z06 for less than some of the GS quoted here. I am also loving the marketing spooge on this car. "Best vette ever, best handling...." it is a Z06 with less power. How does a Z06 drive worse than this car if they are the same minus some power? And to say the extra power is not ever used... don't tell me that. I use my 650hp daily. Also people claim the Z06 only has a 185mph top speed with full aero but the GS has the same with the same aero and 190 hp less. Must be magic.

Also I am warming up my troll cannon for the first fool to buy a GS and supercharge it. If you do that buy a freaking Z06 people! I loved laughing at people buying a Gen5 1LE and supercharging it over just buying a Gen 5 ZL1. Less car (weaker trans, clutch, rear end,no mag ride, weaker brakes), voided warranty and same invested price or more. Each to there own but makes zero sense.

That being said the GS will be a very nice car but best C7?.... sorry not buying it. Just the newest.

(BTW The Z51 might be the best bang for the buck as dealers are going to have trouble moving them now which should equal some great discounts.)

I liked your comment about super charging a Camaro 1LE so it would be 'like' a ZL1. You see comments like that all the time on some of the Camaro forums. Some of them have Mod lists that are a lot longer than the window sticker. Not being critical of the Camaro folks, I had one several years ago. But there's a lot of time and money being spent that really does not have much return.

Neighbor of mine is getting his 3LT Heritage Pkg. Grand Sport this week. His lists for 83K. At that price.....I would be going to the Z. Kerbecks has had some as low as (1LZ) 75K with discounts.

when are they going to add this to the builder on their website? The grand sport is still listed as upcoming.

I paid a hair under that for my 2016 Z06. A8, 2LZ (so crappier leather), Stage 2 aero, Nav/PDR, tons of other little upgrades.

If I had to choose I would take a 2LZ Z06 over a 3LT GS any day. After sitting in both I don't see a major enough difference on the leather to cover the cost. (Not saying there is not a difference. Just that for me it was not worth the extra $$$)

And the performance difference is huge. I ran against a Z51 and it was like he was tied to a post. The GS is going to be no better verse the Z06 and at higher speeds it will be worse due to the aero. No way to offset a 190 hp difference.

It's not the same price. If you get both cars with the same options, they're not going to be the same price. If you build a 2LZ just like the black GS I posted above, there's $13,705 difference to be exact.

The GS is the car for people that don't want or need the LT4 but want the wide body. There's nothing wrong with variety when it comes to Corvettes. There's now a model for just about everyone.
