The plant is already shut down. Solstice, Sky and Opel GT are no longer being produced.

I drove the sky for the first time in months this week. Not sure if I want to challenge the wife to a race or not

Its a bummer GM is out of the 2 seat vert buisness (except vett). Its a niche car but the people in that niche LOVE THEM! Gonna force people to go to other companys...BOOOOO. Maybe in time we will se something come back!

Your mom does realize GM is getting ready to kill Saturn off?

She'll be able to get it serviced at other GM dealerships, but...

Correct. i couldn't remember if it was 1500 or 1000. I just remember there was a wait for the auto. We only had it about 3 months and dumped it. Got it for GMS and they were so hot it was an easy sell. It was tripple black with the chrome wheels... poor performace, too cramped with top up, had to be a contorsionist to reach the power window switch, top was hard to open and seal on the deck... just not overly impressed. I did take it to a wedding with my girlfriend at the time and everyone was all over it... they car, not the g/f.

I've been hoping GM would go the Stingray route. If GM could take a small roadster and style it with some early Corvette cues, the LNF-powered Stingray would be a real seller. I would encourage GM to place a premium price tag on it and make it in limited numbers in order to make the platform more exclusive and profitable.

When people think of a Corvette, they tend to think of the current model. The Stingray has no performance value to most car enthusiasts. It is more of a classic car for styling than a performance machine. In stark contrast, brands like the ZR1 and Z06 strike a chord with performance enthusiasts. Those who just want a car with classic styling and features while maintaining a lower tier of performance might be very happy with a car based on the old Corvette while not competing as a corporate flagship.

Basically, there's a market for sporty 2-seaters, and a Stingray of this description would be profitable if sold in limited numbers and inspired by the right designs.

Before GM went into a tailspin and was forced to go in and out of bankruptcy, the rumor was that the next generation of these Kappa platform cars would be on the Alpha platform. This would have made the cars substantially cheaper to produce. The Alpha platform was to include the upcoming Cadillac ATS, but there is no current public plan to produce this platform. If it is still in the works, then this would be the best bet.

Sure there is. It's already in development.
