I took a 2009 Camry to them. They appraised it $5500 lower than book. Even though i Purchased the Camry from them just one year prior having added only 8k miles to it. Never going back there again.

Yes, I used them for my Camaro. Had the car shipped from Virginia to SA TX. Cost was $700 and the experience was good. Car was over 6k less than I could buy it here in Texas.

Thanks for all your help. I have an appointment with them on Saturday to do an appraisal but I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time. I owe about $24,500 on my car and nada and kbb are saying it's worth around 18,000 to 20,000 for trade in but the dealer only wanted to give me 17,500. I doubt I could get financing due to being upside down that much, depending what they'll give me. You think I should try it? And are they pretty good with financing or are the banks they deal with tough?

When I sold Saturns, we were also a no haggle organization. We would also cut a check and buy the trade in for the amount we quoted. (like Carmax). When people told me they were quoted much higher at another dealer, I would ask them if they would cut them a check for that amount. of course the answer was no. I have dealt with the Carmax here in Columbus and they are great.

In your case, since you are upside down in your trade, it's a little more complicated. Unless you have the difference in cash, you may have to buy your new vehicle where you trade the old vehicle and finance the difference. Since I now work in lending I know that fewer and fewer banks are lending over 100% of the MSRP. There are some out there that do. Try Wells Fargo or Fifth Third bank.

That's what I'm worried about. CarMax has a car I'm interested in at another location of theirs in another state. They said they could do the appraisal for me and then see what the difference is with what I owe and let me know if they think it would be possible to finance the amount. I guess I'll go down and see what they say. She told me if they can't get financing, she could at least let me know where I need to be to get approved and i can do what I can to get the balance owed down. I wish someone could help me. Nothing worse than being in a car you're unhappy with. Thank you for the post.

I bought it after my 2010 was totaled and it was more or less a rush decision cause I needed a car for work and they gave me a great deal on a new one. But since I've had it, I hate the changes to the body style, I am partial to the 10-13 years. And I've had problems here and there with it, just recently the heater core went. Just very frustrated with it. I really want to go back to the 2010-2013 in the color I want and the features I want. But it's my fault for rushing into this one, I understand that.
