is it perfect? absolutely not. no country is. Still think it's the greatest in the world though.

edit: i mean, he says we aren't the greatest country anymore. please tell me what is the greatest? maybe he should have said we aren't as great as we once were, but I still think we are the greatest.
The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate in the world. At year-end 2009, it was 743 adults incarcerated per 100,000 population.

Land of the free? Something like 25% of the worlds population of prisoners?

The us has so many problems. It is very far from a even a 'decent' country imho.

That's not to say the country has amazing potential. Once the populace realizes how hard they are getting raped by the banks and the wealthy, maybe democracy will enact a change. Hopefully before the military prison industrial complex is finished taking all of your rights away.

1 easy way to fix, Legalize and create a hemp based industry. Jobs for the unemployed of every type, manufacturing, bio fuel creation to lessen the impact on corn crops, etc etc. Grows almost everywhere, cleans soil... But its an EVIL PLANT RAWRRRRR. Hopefully we can lose those idiots that have been brainwashed into thinking this.

We may have the highest documented incarceration rate in the world, but you have to take into fact that one third of those are illegal aliens. Not even U.S. citizens. Don't forget how large the U.S. is too.
Yes,...land of the FREE and home of the BRAVE brother. And they are "prisoners" for a reason. They commit the crime,....they do the time. They don't deserve to be "free". What does Canada do with it's bad people?
The U.S. does have problems,...but you know what? I can buy any car that I want, have as many children as I want, say what I want, to a certain extent, and think how I want.
So,....yeah, the good ole' U.S. of A. is the best Country on the planet.

Hell yeah, brother! AMEN!

Part of this countries largest problem...well, problems... is that 1, people who do the crime do NOT do the time. Too many times, criminals are given probation and a fine for whatever crimes they have done. Does that teach a lesson? Pay your city X amount of dollars and don't do it again? Um...no. Not a freaking chance. These guys KNOW what they are doing and they KNOW the system. They even have funds set up within their gangs, families, etc to pay for their bail so they can get right back out and do it all over again. Ask me how I know this.... The only way criminals are ever going to learn is if they do the actual time they are sentenced to. A one year sentence SHOULD be one year. It shouldn't be 2 months and hey, ...we need the extra room for the other bad guys.

Our city has doubled in size over the last 15 years. DOUBLED. Our prison system? Hasn't changed. No new prisons, same old jail... How can we punish those who commit crimes now. Build more prisons? That's what I think... Teach them that the system can't be jacked with and the actual harsher punishment will make them think twice.

AAAAAAnnnnd 2, government assistance. When people know how the system works, they squeeze every drop out of it that they can. It's a mother freaking joke. Again, ask me how I know this.

We need to quit handing out free money and start making people work for it. if they don't want to work, fug'em. I'm sick of watching people use Lone Star cards (gov't asst cards supposed to be used for FOOD) to pay for people's GASOLINE and CIGARETTES. Again, ask me how I know.

Our system IS jacked up. But, it can be fixed. The only problem? No one gives a shit who is IN office now to actually fix it the RIGHT way.

I fear this thread is bordering on "poltics", which is verbotten, but I'll play while it lasts. There is no other place I would rather live than the USA. Does that make it "the greatest country in the world"? No. We used to lead the world in so many of the positive categories mentioned in that clip but we are now failing miserably in just trying to keep up with mediocrity. We are better than this but, if the American people don't start moving back toward the values, beliefs, morals, and the damn hard work it takes to be "the greatest" (again), we are destined to be second-rate forever. The past two to three generations have systematically allowed our leaders in DC to become career-minded self-centered morons who don't give a damn about anything but being re-elected. And THEY are allowing our world-wide stature to gradually sink to the bottom of the barrel. We are getting what we deserve.

I've visited the aforementioned "top 6" & they have all have serious pitfalls which easily compel me to stick with... A M E R I C A.

Regardless of all the pitfalls mentioned about the USA... there's no place like home.
