Thanks for the correction. The article I read made it sound like they were optional. So, what does the car cost then? In the 60's?

Only available on the R and they are not optional. Yes, an R bases around $61K including GG tax and delivery fee included. That $30k number has been debunked by several sources.

Well how about some sensible questions.

Aside from the hoopla, is that really a word?

How much unsprung weight do they save?
How much reduction in rotational inertia?

Thanks
Jim

Ford has teamed with Australian outfit Carbon Revolution to produce the CF rollers en masse for the first time. Destined for the hubs of the new Shelby GT350R, the new hoops weigh just 18 pounds each, versus the 33-lbs weight of a similar aluminum wheel. On top of slashing up to 60 pounds in unsprung weight, there's such a reduction in rotational inertia – 40 percent, versus aluminum wheels – that Ford actually has to recalibrate the magnetic ride control system and springs.

Thanks for the info. Great times for performance cars, with all the manufacturers adding their innovations our cars are becoming awesome.

Don't know what percent of the rotational inertia the cars wheels and the resultant reduction contributes more torque to move us quicker but its got to help.

The reduction in unsprung weight has got to be a huge help going around the track.

How does the weight compare to one of the lighter racing forged wheels, size for size?

From what I've been able to find perusing Google results, a forged aluminium wheel in a 19x11(f) and 19x11.5(r) would weigh in the 27-30lb range.
