If it is a GM Captured Fleet vehicle, it may not have had any damage whatsoever. I purchased one of the 69 - 2012 ZL1s with the special VINs, but came with a Salvage Title. Car had no issues other than normal wear.

That's all well and good, if I was able to confirm that that was the case and he was the one getting it from GM himself - I wouldn't feel so bad about it. But he's buying from a guy, who is saying GM demo car is the story behind the salvage title. It's hard to confirm or refute that - all Carfax says is that it was issued the title by the dealership/MI DMV and looks like it was never titled to a person.
For the ZL1 did you know what you were getting? Did you buy it sight unseen or did you have a chance to inspect it?

Well if the asking price is $30,000, I'm not sure how you could call it a $40,000 mistake. 2011's are going for roughly 36-40k, personally I probably wouldn't do it but I would give it some serious thought if they came down to $25k.
