toyota was also built by american investors and the american government after wwII when we bombed them into the ground. but things like this will happen when any company gets very large, GM had it when the 80's pick up trucks would leak fuel after a side collision, Ford had the big deal with its partner about the suv tires, and chrysler should recall all their rolling scrap heaps, honda had a big law suit about their odometers reading false distances on their civics, and now toyota is in the spot light, its a merry go round

My comment is referring to the title of this post. "Toyota is in a heap of trouble".

They aren't in as much trouble as GM. Just stating facts.

I'll be there!

Toyota is going to screw the pooch on this one. Keep an eye on this. This guy just might disappear off the face of the earth, if you know what I mean. This is BIG...I MEAN BIG.

Could you all imagine the lawsuits?!?! All the previous cases where Toyota won due to falsifying and omitting information?

Oh boy...if the info here is true, Toyota is going to be in a heap of trouble and lose hundreds of millions of dollars....if not into the billions with lawsuits, retooling, recalls, redesign, oh boy...

They're talking about LEGAL trouble. Toyota is in trouble because they covered something up and hopefully will have hell to pay because of it.

This doesn't pass the 'smell' test to me. This guy worked there for four yrs and knew about the withholding of evidence the whole time? Maybe he should be disbarred?

Just seems like it's not very big news because is has no real merrit. Just because it is in the courts, doesn't mean it is true.

There are cases in the courts where people sued 'Froot Loops' because it didn't really have fruit in it.
And just recently, a California judge ruled against a lady who tried to sue because the 'Crunch Berrys' in Cruch Berrys weren't real berries.

I'd wait to see if this story really has any truth.

Just sayin'. Know what I'm sayin'

If he was working as a lawyer for them He really can't say anything though.
I do agree though. I'm in "wait and see" mode.

In its statement Friday, Toyota said it was "disappointed" that Biller has attempted "to avoid what we believe are his obligations as an attorney formerly employed by Toyota. In our view, Mr. Biller has repeatedly breached his ethical and professional obligations, both as an attorney and in his commitments to us, by violating attorney-client privilege."
This is my favorite part. They could have said something along the lines of "We are sorry that Mr. Biller left our company but we have nothing to hide". Instead we got that Toyota is upset he told on them.

The guy caused a stink about their operations and they gave him $3.7 million to go away. Looks like it didn't work.

For the record GM is in zero trouble now. Your post may have meant something 3 months ago, but nothing now....unless you just wanted to bash GM in a Toyota thread, at which point its mission accomplished.

It falls under attorney/client privilege. Ironically enough, he my be disbarred for disclosing it period.

I remember a case not too long ago where an attorney was disbarred for disclosing the guilt of his client to keep another innocent man who was convicted of the crime off death row...
