Zabo...I don't know much about the subject, but I do know that treatment for what your dog has, if successful, is basically delaying the inevitable...

I'm off until Friday, so I'll shoot an email to one of our veterinarians and see if she has anything to offer on the subject.

That's pretty much the thing going for us now. They ran and cross checked the information and results to be sure that it was just what it was..

There was no denying it. We were just talking about it now as a family and that's what my mom said about it. She had a friend whose dog died a few years back if I recall. They decided to put the dog down before it got too uncomfortable. So far Ally is doing ok, little less active and pants alot. She is eating, but blood tests rarely lie..

We've pretty much left it to the course of whom do want to save her (emails were sent to the board of directors, one of which loves the dog almost MORE than us.) and they came to the same conclusion. It would be 'delaying the inevitable.'

It sucks hard guys. I appreciate the prayers, but with things the way they are it's pretty much going to go downhill from here. It was just a shock, she was always happy and bubbly but now.. can't even look her in the eyes without tearing up. It was supposed to be a simple blood test to check on if she was just sick with a stomach bug or something..

Strangely enough, yesterday I was talking with my mom about getting a dog after school since Dini, the schnoodle, is pretty much staying here in Toledo (shes 9 but still acts 1 XD).

That is heart breaking. I'm so sorry. Yes, pets are so much part of the family. Enjoy her for the time you have her, and try to find comfort in the memories of the good times.

As an aside, Congress is considering a bill to allow pet care as a tax deduction. http://www.click2houston.com/news/20561531/detail.html

Uh.. wow. Guys, I have some shocking news:

Ally may get 'free' treatments.

Short version is that there's a member that is friends with some of the board members. In good ole boy fashion he offered to give her the treatments in exchange for his membership dues waived for the year (or more). Essentially she may be getting a pass on life.

But knowing it's Leukemia I understand it's not permanent.. but at least we have her a little longer.

And now that time has run out. Allie has been immobile for almost a week and the consensus is to put her down.

She's gotten so frail and thin since I last saw her 2 weeks ago. She can barely stand let alone walk. Pretty sure nerve damage from the cancer may have ruined her hips. She's all doped up on pain killers right now, without them she'd be in serious pain or so I've been told. We have to carry her around the house; she can't scale any grade or step.

We're taking the weekend to say our last goodbyes before we cease her suffering.
