I have no idea. It's all really confusing to me. I hope some one on hear cna shed more light on it, but I believe even GM said racing is a no no, track use ok but racing no.

technically racing is against other cars, or trying to beat the clock, so that already has a tricky definition.

Just look at it this way, GM said its warrantied for track use, anything goes wrong just say you were tracking it. GM was the most clear about something that has lots of catches and props to them for that.

It comes down to dealer and what the failure is. They really are all the same. Ford, GM, Dodge, Nissan, etc. You can take the car to the drag strip, you can do autoxs, you can do HPDEs. You cannot with any of them competitively race the car. Really it is all kind of a grey area. If you enter the car into a NASA car to car race event, I wouldn't expect them to honor a engine failure if it happened on the track going wheel to wheel with other cars. Then again if it was just a lapping HPDE day it should be covered.

Touring around the country running a specific NHRA class with the car, probably not covered. Running a local event, no issues.

What it comes down to is the dealer, and if they know where/how the failure occurred. If my mustang brakes an axle, I'm not going to tow it to the dealer with numbers on the window and drag tires on it and expect it to be warrantied.

The best way to figure it out would be "Racing" typically requires a lot of safety equipment. Cage, fire suppression, harnesses, battery cutoff, seats, hans device, no gycol, etc. If you are participating in an event that requires stuff like that to enter (NASA racing, etc) then kiss the warranty good by. Then again if you can buy a $60k+ and put $10k+ into it to get it legal for a racing event, and hack up the interior, then warranty probably isn't a concern.

Anything that would allow a off the show room car that would be under warranty probably isn't an issue.
