Little did they know....I was already preapproved for the loan...... and they could have had the deal done that afternoon.
I took my toys and went home..... now I am shopping other dealers.
Which Nimnicht ? I went to the one on Cassat and had no problems. Everyone there seemed really laid back... 2 Brothers actually own the Nimnicht Dealerships.

When I went in to buy my ZL1 last week, I wasn't able to drive that one either. I was told with the recall, none of the Camaros can be driven until they are re keyed. But when you are buying that many horses, who needs to test drive. I'm sure she's just fine.

Now if I could only take her home.....

They also said they needed special permission from G Mgr.

I told them I'm looking at manual 335I, 545I, maybe a clean E46 M3 also.

I have never driven a 5th gen.

Did they want to run / qualify my credit?

I know how Bimmer's and 4th gens drive.

Jeebus...glad I'm not in market for C7...I would need DHS clearance.

Probably a sales tactic. Gauging how serious you are and also to try and close the deal. Kind of like getting an estimator in and he asks you who else gave you an estimate and what then if they are the first? They may get a lot of tire kickers and the GM wants to be in the loop to close it? Maybe -

Did you ask specifically why?

Yes the recall has something to do with it.. But there is more to it.. Some dealerships only have 1 or 2 SS's, so I would imagine they want you to secure financing first.. It has a lot to do with the dealership and the volume of cars they have.. Otherwise they would have just said "no test drive because of the recall"..

I test drove one locally here days after the recall at one of the largest regional dealerships in the state. Maybe even the country. 2SS automatic. Bought elsewhere though just yesterday and it's in my garage.

I can't see this specific recall stopping dealers from selling or test drives. From delivering yes. But as a salesman I would be there for the test drive and tell you what not to do with the key, etc.

The wife and I were at a dealership here in california, dodge dealership. I drove in with my 2010 camaro and was looking at challengers (no I am not getting one or getting rid of my camaro). The sales guy was showing off a 392 model telling me how it would blow my socks off after driving my camaro, I asked him for a test drive with him and was informed no SRT models can be test drove without paperwork for bank approval done first. I told him thank you and proceeded to my car were I immediately opened my cutouts and proceeded to leave setting off several car alarms.

No, truly just wanted to drive the car to see if 5th gen is what I want next. Also, as stated, I'm in the middle of a re-lo. You have to keep credit in status quo.

Is that Robert Moses in your photo?

Yes that's Captree Park.

You can run a credit karma.com profile and print it out next time. Show it to dealership so they know you are serious and can qualify. That should help.

Normally, dealerships don't let you test drive any sports car over $45,000 unless you have the cash to purchase. At least here in Tennessee they don't and this is generally because they don't want people just taking joy rides. I've tried to test drive a ZL1, GT500 and C7. No dealership would let me without cash in hand and credit check.

Better privileges come with age. Dealers down here will let me drive any car they have. Only ones down here at Chevy dealers they won't let anyone drive are Z28's,most of which are already sold , and any one that is sold or has sale pending.
