I moved from central PA to Pittsburgh two years ago and I immediately noticed one thing that drivers around here do ALL THE TIME that pisses me off to no end. Drivers making a left off of a main road on to a side street (who HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY) will more often than not stop short, hold up traffic behind them (which has the right of way), and wait for the person at the stop sign on the side street to make their left onto the main street. Now, I appreciate someone being kind and letting me out if there is a ton of traffic and I've been sitting there forever waiting to make a left. But most of the time this happens to me, if I'm the car on the side street without the right of way, the person with the right of way is the only car turning, and if they would just take the initiative and TURN, I'd have already been on my way. But they stop and wait. And I wait and second guess if they're going to turn or not (not wanting to pull out in front of them since they HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY). So we both waste time. Also, if I'm the person behind the person that does this (ie they impede my right of way) I also get angry and have been known to use the horn). One day on the way home from work I even had the guy in front of me go from 40mph to a complete stop to let someone pull out in front of us. WHAT?! If I'm in no particular hurry, there is no one behind me or the "offender", and I'm the guy at the stop sign, I'll just sit and stare at the person who decides to not follow the law and make the damn turn. lol. I stale-mated a woman for almost a minute one time. She finally got angry that I wasn't pulling out and gave me the stink eye as she sped past. People really need to get their acts together when it comes to driving. I think everyone should be required to take a driving course at least once every couple of years to "stay current and sensible" with their driving. Oh well. END RANT. lol

Other peeves:
- People who don't yield when merging onto the highway.
- People who don't signal.
- People who don't maintain speed (my father-in-law falls into this category lol).
- People who drive too slow.
- People who drive way too slow because of a little rain or snow.
- Other drivers in general haha.

Pedestrians who think the sidewalk belongs to them only. And everything the OP mentioned.

Everything OP mentioned especially the left lane shenanigans. Nothing grinds my gears more than two cars driving next to each other at the same speed.

Yeah i've seen that too. I have done it myself only when traffic is backed up at a red light and i'll give them room to turn out.
my pet peeves that haven't been mentioned:
-Being to catious with my car
-Going to park in a area where no one else parks and having them follow me and pull up right beside me and then have a conversation about the camaro I just went the extra mile to protect. Which usaully goes something like this: Hey! I never seen one with a stripe like that! -- Yeah it's a special edition package for the 45th anniversary. -- Looks sick --- *End of Conversation*

This is one that i dont always agree with. YES they should yield overall, BUT when ppl already on the highway have the room to get over and dont....this gets me!!!!!!

Reason why? Because ppl dont know how to "play nice" with traffic. THATS the reason there are traffic problems MOST of the time, not because of the volume, but because ppl cant "shuffle" together....its all ME ME ME FIRST.

For example, traffic slows, even stops, at on ramps and off ramps when NO traffic is backed up on highway. WHY? because ppl cant play nice with each other. Traffic goes back to 65 before and after this "jam up" so its the "playing nice" reason here for problems. Or, as above, ppl not getting over to make a little rooom when they can.

Another on. "weave lanes" They work, PERIOD. Yet there is always a jam up there because ppl want to merge ASAP right at the 'gore" area, which doesnt allow the design to work properly.

Bottom line? People in this country cant drive and only care about themselves on the road.

We teach our kids how to pass a test.....not how to drive. We shou,d change this.

(done rant)

If you don't like my driving, stay off the sidewalk! :-D

And yeah, if there's traffic then I'll try to facilitate someone merging, but when I'm the only car on the highway and they could easily merge ahead of or behind me and they decide to merge into the side of my car, THAT'S what gets me. Grumble Grumble. lol

George Carlin said it best something like...

"ever notice that anybody going slower than you is stupid, and anyone going faster is an idiot?"

It's all relative to each individuals style of driving or commuting. My advice is grow a thicker skin and drive defensively. On a motorcycle you are invisible to most drivers, so it has become a way of staying alive for me... the road is no place for petty arguments. Flesh never wins against steel...

I let those that wish to run faster go and those that wish to drive slow do so. I just take the next opportunity to change the situation as needed if I am behind them. Patience is priceless...

You can be ticketed for driving too slow. Laws in most states dictate, "No person shall drive upon a highway at such a slow speed as to impede or block the normal and reasonable movement of traffic, except when reduced speed is necessary for safe operation, because of a grade, or compliance with the law".

You are right if you are on the interstate but not on any other streets or high way in most states. It reads travel up to the speed limits. That means you can go 40 in a 55mph zone. In Mich I75 the max speed is 70 min is 55.
I ask a leo about this If it not on the interstate they will not give you a ticket. On the interstate if you are going 10mph less then the speed limit in the far right hand lane they will not give you a ticket.
