Agreed!! The back and forth is what makes this fun. I highly doubt the new Mustang will be ugly.

I for one am not looking to jump ship either..

I know it's sacrilege to say but I've always loved Mustangs ever since I was a kid. I almost bought one instead of the camaro but being 6'1" 225, it wasn't roomy enough for me. I'm anxious to see was the next gen looks like.

they will need to lighten up the stang quite a bit to even come close to the new vette. they weigh about 3,650 now, 300 pounds doesnt come easy your talking a very small mustang at 3300 pounds. the camaro, challenger, cuda, whatever, wont hold a candle to it at that weight. i guess we will see. im thinking they will keep it at around 3500 which is still light as hell and have to come out with something to compete with the vette unlike the fail that was the Ford GT. but who knows i could be off big time.

Well, the Camaro has outsold the Mustang pretty handily since it came back on the market despite the fact that many declare the Mustang to be the best performance car for the money blah blah blah....

Point is, looks sell in this class. The Mustang outsold the 4th gen Fbodies rather easily despite being incredibly underpowered and just down right horrible but they had the good looks.

My only question is; if Ford tries to possibly take aim at Corvette, even if only in the upper trim levels, (with this possible weight loss and performance upgrades, this MAY be the case) will it mean Camaro is left with only Challenger/Barracuda to play with?
I think that is what Ford thought they were going to do 4 or 5 years ago and GM has hung right in there introducing bigger and badder Camaros. We already know that the 6th Gen Camaro is going to be on the lighter Alpha chassis and that weight reduction is a major goal.

Ford has no intention of makinv the Mustang compete with the Corvette.

Sure, recently (well..starting in '03 with the Terminator) horsepower numbers have been relatively close, but the Vette is, and will continue to perform at a higher level than Mustangs. Seriously, it takes my car 662 hp to compete with a 505hp C5Z, and next years 450ish hp base/z51 will be nearly as quick.

If anything the Mustang over achieves in some performance metrics, but its definitely not aiming at the Corvette any time soon.

I agree Ford has no intention at aiming fro the Vette. I hate when people try and compair the vette to a Mustang. If the mustang was aimed at the vette the mustangs price would reflect that.

The Ford GT was limited production so how could it have been a Vette competitor? Not to mention how much more expensive it is.

1. the Mustang is going to be a smaller car per the rumors with better construction and lighter materials, rumors have the wieght loss at up to 400 pounds. 2. How the hell was the Ford GT a fail? it was a very limited production car built to celebrate Ford's, I believe, 100th birthday. the thing is a freaking legend now.

That gif is pretty funny.

any idea what its from?

Some people just dont get the point of some cars. While not the fastest car ever produced, the GT was a throwback to the GT40 and a celebration of Fords uno-hundro birf-day.

seriously, read 1 article about the car before you spout ignorance...it should help a lot of people save face...
