the other alternative is walking away. and if it were that easy to defend yourself from an attack, there would be no attacks, and no one would ever get beat up. obviously this boy had no clue how to defend himself. and the parents took blame for that.

what are you talking about? how is he gonna walk away? like the other kid is just gonna go about his business once this kid attempts walks away? the victim appears to be a very smart kid.. he knew how to hit someone back.

I've walked away from numerous fights. so yes, most bullys want to instigate a fight, and want the other person to throw the first punch. from the video, it seems this bully/attacker didn't have any other plans but to assault this kid. and if you don't know what you are doing, it's hard to get in a punch, when someone is wailing on your face...

i'm a little astonished that i'm having this conversation, and a little more shocked that someone would be talking like the kid deserved to get beat up because he didn't defend himself...but I guess I really shouldn't be, this is the internet.

lol @ you acting as if everyone bullying situation is identical. Speak for yourself.

You walk way today and what happens tomorrow or next week? You can only run for so long. Better to end it right there once and for all.

I do speak for myself I've walked away and never heard from the bully again. I've also fought and never heard from them again. if I had to choose one, i'd try walking first.

lol @ you thinking all bullying situations require violence.

When you use words like "most" you are not speaking for yourself.

I'm proud of you for always being the bigger man though!

ok, I don't have the actual statistical number for bullying that involved violence, but it doesn't take a math wiz to figure out that there is more bullying without violence, than with. If there were, you'd be seeing a beat up kid between each class and during every recess, because I can guarantee bullying happens every day.

and thanks

you should also be speaking for yourself here. as i'm living proof that violence is not the only way to "combat" bullying.

Can't see the video at work, but my son had a bullying incident a few years back. I taught him to walk away unless they got violent. At the time he was a Tae kwon do red belt and I had worked with him on his boxing techniques as well (I have heavy bags).

After months of being verbally abused and pushed around he snapped, when his mom picked him up from school he was covered in blood from head to toe, not one drop was his own. He doesn't get bullied anymore. Sometimes violence is the only way to deal with a bully.

I agree, SOMETIMES it's the only option. unlike the other guy, it's the ONLY option.

his son had walked away and it still continued. just like like you he kept running and running. As in this case, a violent incident in the beginning would've ended it.
