After Iron Man 1 Downey signed a contract to play Stark in 3 more movies...part 2, 3 and Avgengers. (he got like 5% of the gross of the movies so he made $50 million for Avengers.) Now that contract is up. Apparently they have to renegotiate with a couple of the other actors for Avengers too and none of them have been making anything like what Downey has been. Apparently even Sam Jackson and Scarlett Johansen havn't made big money for their appearances.

to be fair, their roles so far, have been very minimal. and honestly, they could be played by anyone, and do just as good of a job. A bit on the forgettable side.

oh i agree. and the other Avengers...Chris Evans,,Chris Hemsworth..they aren't stars. Downey is one of the few people out there right now people will go to see just for him.

Robert Downey Jr. originally signed on to do three independent Iron Man movies and The Avengers.

Now, he is currently in negotiations with Marvel Studios on a new contract where Marvel wants him to do Avengers 2 and Avengers 3 but there is no mention on whether the new contract will also include a fourth solo Iron Man installment.

I think Chris Evans is probably the only other person in the line-up that could be considered a star, as far as The Avengers line-up goes. Chris Hemsworth is still sort of new, and Sam Jackson's roles have been relatively small in the movies, even though his character is supposed to be this main leader guy.

I think Jackson is the one who was/is signed up for 8 movies...
