Well, I agree that Michael Bay movies are more about action that plot, which is why I thought Pearl Harbor was cool. I just watch it for the actual bombing. But, I just saw Transformers 2 and yes, there are a few holes in the story which could be told better, the story was kinda rushed, and the part in Egypt was kinda dragged on. Kinda heavy on the swearing, compared to the first movie. Also, they have got to stop "hiding" the action. For example, when Ironhide first transformed, it was so fast and unclear even though it took like 15 seconds. And the fight scenes are always kind of short and skewered by trees, pillars, walls, etc. The camera is always in the wrong place.

But other than that, I thought the movie was awesome. The "FATALITY"s or Finishing Moves were killer. Optimus Prime is FREAKING BADASS. The Corvette was sexy, the "Z28" Bumblebee was awesome, and overall, it's very enjoyable. Go see it

I agree with the profanity bit. It was awkward, and the first one never had so much. I think the movie should have stuck with robots battling on earth than human "drama" with robot action in the background. It's like the movie was trying too hard to be likable when it should have just let the Transformers shine.

Exactly, the movie should have centered around and been in the point of view of Optimus Prime and not Shia.. Having it centered around Shia in the first film worked because it was a story of a boy and his car.. However the second movie was so convoluted and you barely get to see all the cool characters throughout. Having it centered around Optimus would have been amazing. Sideswipe was cool however we only saw him at the start. Ironhide was at Optimus's side while the important mission work was given to two goof-ups and a crying Bumblebee..

I agree with the hiding the action part. WTH! Back off of them a little bit so I can see what's going on. I'm watching a fight with two twenty foot robots from three feet away! That's like putting a 70" widescreen in a room that is a 7' X7'! It just drives ya nuts. I am also happy the Optimus wasn't a wimp like he was in the first movie! That really ticked me off.

I know! It's like you need full 1080p HD and a half just to make out the jumbled up mix of robot-on-robot action. The only parts that you can actually see details, like edges and distinct parts of the robot, is when they slow down the action for like the finishing move

But those slow-mo moves and Optimus Prime stepping up make up for it though. Haha, when he got back up in the forest...EPIC

He was just such a you-know-what in the first movie; not this one though. He was a friggin' animal!

IMHO - I liked the movie even more than the first. I also agree with the action. I thought it was super intense, but hard to follow because of the cinematography. I didn't really have a problem with the plot. The two little things I had small problems with were points where I thought there was too much CGI and things started becoming unrealistic and sometimes the physics, to my humble understanding, just weren't making sense. I thought there were a bunch of good little laughs, a lot of emotion, and a whole lotta' action. I waited three hours to see the first showing this morning at 12:01, so I'm dragging a lot right now, but I know I'll be going back to see it soon - probably in IMAX. There was a lot more swearing in it, though it wasn't anything for me to get all worked-up about. That, and there was more violent scenes (where you would actually see CGI-people get killed, or drown, etc.). I think it made the movie a little more dramatic, but just seemed less like a family movie to me.

Anyways - I'd give this movie as high a rating as I could. I'll be the first in-line when in comes out in Blue-ray the moment it's released. I thought it was better in almost every way than the first, and really look forward to wearing that disc out

JMVHO

PS - I couldn't help but stare at Bumblebee's "Z28" hood every time he was on screen, LOL.

Did anyone else notice that they actually said the president was Obama? I found that kinda weird for the movie to go with the current president of the USA. Usually they just make up a president for the sake of the movie. Does anybody else find that weird or is that just me?

You have to see this movie with the mind set that its not going to be a "Titanic".

Meaning its Michael Bay, and he spent 80% on explosions, 18% on CGI and 2% on actors.

All of Michael Bay films have massive pot holes. The Island, Bad Boys 1 and 2 etc.

I HATED the comedy in the first 1 but in this 1 most of it kind of grew on me. The twins were funny as hell, the little RC truck was funny, most of it was funny.

I love how they had robots everywhere in the movie. And the dessert fight scene was what....45 minutes of robots and explosions....what more can you ask for in a action film?

Out of 10 I would have to give it a strong 6 maybe even a 7.

I will def. go see it again. I'm a HUGE Transformers fan.

Uh, what? I'm an '80s kid, too, but have you actually watched the original Transformers cartoon? Or any of those old cartoons? I watched the entirety of the G1 series last year (bought it on DVD) and it's all pretty painful to watch.

Just like how we of that general age hold the original Star Wars movies as excellent movies. If you go back and watch them today (Empire aside), they're not that much better than the new trilogy. Just because we thought it was good as a kid doesn't mean it was good in the long run...

I have the old G1 DVD's and I LOVE em!! Also, think of the other awesome Cartoons we had growing up in the 80's: G.I. Joe, He Man, ThunderCats, and even though it was a Transformers rip off: M.A.S.K.!!

We grew up in the time of the greatest cartoons. Ever. Period.

And whoever the actress is that plays the Terminator transformer that tries to seduce/murder Sam, she is pretty damn hot too!

I just got back from watching it. Magnus and Devastator. WOOT!!!!! Sideswipe was awesome, all 3 minutes of him...

Decent movie, nothing like the first. Had lots more action, and lots more corniness.
