They are just trademarking the name so yes in the future they can revive it.....consider good and great cars others have lost....the toyota celica.....the capri....the nova....the apollo...the monza....the vega...etc etc...the 130 r concept is a likely small sporty car that will not be the next camaro I hope, more likely a malibu revision or the next spark or something.

I know a lot of guys love their Chargers. Imagine if Chevy released a direct competitor with aggressive lines and called it the Chevelle. I'd be happy with that. The Impala doesn't really do it for me, even after the redesign.

I'd imagine they would chop 2 doors off the new SS if a Chevelle or Nova was to reborn.

You do realize you contradicted yourself right? The Chevelle was a trim level of the Malibu. So if the 130r was the next Malibu, that would also make it the Chevelle.

I pray that this does not become a Malibu or Chevelle of any sort. I would love to see a '70-72 based retro influenced Chevelle. Not as retro as the Challenger. But based on the styling. Similar to how the Camaro has a lot of influence but isn't a direct modernized recreation.

You have that backwards. The Malibu was a trim level of the Chevelle and then became its own model after the Chevelle was dropped.

Oh FFS. Every time that damn 130R concept pops up everyone freaks out.

If GM does a Chevelle, and that's a big IF, it's not going to be the 130R.

You are correct. For some reason I do that all the time.

But, my original point still stands, if that became the Malibu it would also be the chevelle

After GM built the 2014 Z/28, I don't think reviving the Chevelle is THAT outrageous of an idea. Who thought they would do that with a modern Camaro? I sure as hell didn't.

If GM brings back the Chevelle in some putrid form (like the images) I'm done with them. I swear if they ruin that name with a 4-dr (SS sedan-type) I'm done with GM forever.

Just leave it as is. the 4 dr charger is enough of an abomination.

We can't always live in the past. The Impala used to come in convertibles, and those days are long gone, as are the days of high-performance Malibus, Bel Air fins, and chrome bumpers. It's a new day for GM.

Ahhh the Caprice Classic in a convertible in the early seventies now that was the end of the cars that could carry the chrome and carry it well.

True, but if you are resurrecting a classic nameplate, you are going back to the past. Especially something like the Chevelle. It almost has to be a 2 door coupe. In my opinion, the new Charger could have been called something else and sold just as well. It doesn't look or feel like a classic Charger so I doubt the name has anything to do with sales.
