I wouldn't doubt it's real, cops here give tickets for leaving your car running unattended.

Never heard of it until the other day, a cop came into the store asking whos car was running outside, told the guy it was inviting theft and would be a ticket next time.

Felt bad for the guy,he said he left it running cause his starter was going and he was afraid it wouldn't start again if it shut off.

Not exactly the same thing as you OP but it seems LEOs are really reaching for stuff to bring in the extra cash.

Hmm maybe we can make a case for dark window tinting, we can claim it's a theft deterrent

Or doing their jobs...

Stop the issue before it starts. By telling the guy to not leave his car open to be stolen...

OR...spend thousands at least in department funds, paying investigators, insurance. Then if they catch the guy who stole it you have booking fees, feeding him, taking up space...

Sounds easier just to give a warning eh?

If it has any value it can be stolen. People break out windows for change in cup holders. I've responded to calls like that. You think an old car will stop them? That's a quick 500 dollar sale.

I am just asking opinion here since I haven't encounter anything like this in the past. Everyday in your life you learn something new don't you? Now I learned that this is legitimate and so I guess I have to be extra careful and not leave anything on the dash that can grab attention of not-so-good people out there. And If otherwise I learned it from other members here that this is FAKE then I have to be careful again bec. probably next time that haters might not only give me a fake ticket but also do something more worse that I could imagine. One purpose of this forum I guess is to give advice and exchange of information and opinion as well, that can be useful. And I am grateful of that.

TBH that's a kind service from the Filth# uk-slang :-)

But as everywhere on the planet, we wish they were more actively engaged.

Have you seen some of the other threads out there? I wouldn't say this thread is pointless, more helping the OP out. If you like to cause arguement and drama I advise you to go else where.

So you're upset that you didn't get a ticket? I don't get it. Move on.

I find this appalling considering California shoves all their environmental regulations onto the rest of the nation and here they are killing innocent trees for a PR stunt. j/k be glad your departments around you are out checking out your ride and giving you some heads up advice.
