you must have missed the "in Spring" part of the article... you see, the ONLY version of the Challenger to go on sale in the Spring is the SRT8... all other models will follow sometime around September, after production starting in the last half of July... I can PROMISE you that Chrysler will be selling the SRT8 starting at $38k and the lesser models for alot less... from what I am told, the Challenger's top price with every bell, whistle and added extra is about $45k... you have chosen to read only what you want to read in this article.

and yesh, I have been entertaining the idea of getting a GT500 as well as a Challenger... because I think it would be cool to have a six speed version of all three pony cars

If the Camaro gets a price tag like that, I'd rather buy a Cadillac. I could get a luxury status symbol at that price. Fortunately, we all know that the Camaro is going to be affordable.

Marks ups aren't designed to kill the sale. It's there to hold gross on a new vehicle.

you guys gotta remember that the 41,000 isnt really gonna be the price. only 6000 challengers are gonna be made and its basically gonna be a ebay auction to see who gets them. I know when my unlce asked about them the dealer said he has to wait for the bids to open or some crap like that. so yeah the challengers might not becoming cheap after all.

So to sum up the advantages we have:
Not limited production stick available presumably no gas guzzler tax I don't think we'll have to pay nearly the prices the Challenger is commanding. |

You know, I hope the Challenger is here to stay. Sure, the "limited production model" may be priced a little high for the average consumer, but who knows what other engines will be dropped under the hood of those tanks. There has been some rumors of Chrysler doing away with HEMI power. I'm not interested in one at all, but when the Camaro comes out, I'd like some variety on the streets for me to leave in the dust. Beating the crap out of Mustangs and Chargers will get old after a while. Sure, the imports will be out in abundance, but I'm talkin' about the good 'ol American muscle car races. A little healthy competition is good. In fact, I hope more cars come back. Maybe not so 'retro', but I'd like to see the old nameplates around again. If Ford were to affiliate with De Tomaso and do a re-make of the Pantera, the Chevelle comes back, the Charger lost two of its doors, 'Cuda, a GTO that looked less... well, you know. (no offense to all GTO owners, I do like them a little). So far all of these companies are all on the right track. If they keep going this way, we'll be back on the road with all the fun cars. Maybe even bring back the Grand National and a REAL Cougar, instead of whatever Ford did with those last two generations. I would love it if they were all successful.
