Used to be that the trunk lid had to be stock, but not anymore. About the only thing somewhat stock is the sticker of the car logo.

The NASCAR bodies haven't been even close to looking like the actual car since like 2002 when they made all then manufacturers switch to the same basic 4 door sedan body and then the 4 door sedan COT design in 2007. Now the nationwide series needs to switch to the new "stock like" bodies used in Cup this year. Though I'm sure the change will be coming for next season for the Nationwide series.

Isnt NASCAR supposed to be going back to real stock cars, which is the reason for the new SS? Racing real cars you can buy on Monday?

It is a custom car with a Camaro grille sticker, I think it would be great if they did the work ground up from a production car. But it may just be me.
NASCAR is not even National anymore, its International now that they let Toyota run. Its japanese, BMW will be running next.

Nascar hasn't been nascar since #3 left and them fugging up the schedule limiting Darlington to 1 race per year. I stopped going/watching pretty much after that. And after letting the Japanese makes in...forget it. I don't care at all anymore.

Its about money for the NASCAR officials. The more brands they let in the more m0ney they make. It should be International Automobile Nonstock Car Race.

The idea was to get the cars "looking" more like what you could buy on the showroom floor.

You will never see "real stock cars" like they used to run.
They are all purpose built from the ground up race cars.

The new Gen 6 cars at least have front and rear fascias that resemble what that manufacturer has on the showroom floor.
