Try looking at the Dodge Journey. You can get a R/T with the 286Hp V6 that gets in the mid-twenties gas mileage fully loaded with all options for around 30k. They are bigger than the equinox with third row seating and have AWD as an option.

Plenty of room, good gas mileage, and a cheaper price than most others.

I have a 2005 equinox V6 AWD as my daily driver. Have had it for close to two months and I love it. I don't mind driving it over the camaro. With mixed driving I average around 18-19 mpg. Straight highway trip I took for work I averaged 23.5 mpg

My sister has a 2012 4cylinder FWD and loves it as well. Chicago to indy last Aug she was able to pull 29 mpg. Im 6ft4 240 lbs and I am comfortable in the backseat even with an infant car seat in the middle.

I have a 2013 GMC Terrain - Denali trim with the new V-6, two wheel drive.

I have had it about 4 months, ~3200 miles.

I like it alot! Very comfortable and performance is very good for a truck/SUV (it's not an SS Camaro and I wasn't expecting performance in this caliber).

No regrets what so ever on this purchase!

I highly recommend the Nox. We love our 2012. Went with the 4cyl for gas mileage and it's excellent on the freeway. Car is the quietest GM I've ever owned with a smooth ride. You get a heckuva lot of bang for the buck at 26k imo. Only 2 complaints are the crappy GM steering wheel and no rear AC vents.

You will not be disappointed with this vehicle.

A coworker of mine was looking at them (but ended up getting a Cruze) and he said the dealers told him the Equinox was getting a facelift for 2014. Any truth to that?

We factory ordered a '13 3.6 V6 fwd LTZ Equinox with MyLink/Navigation from BeckyD@Rodgers for my wife and we love it. We took it on a trip down the gulf coast on our way to Key West,FL and we got a best average of 31 mpg (55-60 mph) traveling the coast (flat surface) while breaking her in. This is way better than what the epa estimated mpg of 24 hwy on the sticker and we also averaged over 24 mpg on the freeway with the cruise set @ 70 mpg and a/c on.

My parents picked-up a 2013 4cyl fwd Equinox LS today and after taking it for a spin I was quite impressed.

With bluetooth, cruise control, radio inputs, power windows, and half decent looking wheel and tires I kept arguing with them that it had to be a 1LT. Then they took the window sticker out of the glove box and showed me it was a LS with no other options added. I'm 6' foot and with the front seats all the way back I had plenty of leg room in the back seats. Very nice!

Wife has a 2011 Cardinal Red LTZ. She loves the thing, and loves to drive it. She's already got 72,000 miles on it and we are thinking of trading it in for a 2013/14 Equinox before we get to 100K. A Crystal Red one in LTZ trim of course.

My wife's car is a silver LTZ. So far we love the car! There is only one thing that I do not like and it the power lift gate. We keep ours in the off position all the time, it's way too easy to accidentally open that tailgate while you're in the store. First few weeks we owned it, it was sitting there in the parking lot of a store with the endgame up twice. Good mpg's, first vacation out in it we pulled 33mpg. I was perfectly happy with that number. Leather seats are great, radio sounds good, and it drives pretty well.
