Powertrain probably should have been in a Caddy from the start due to cost. GM is still having issues convincing folks to buy that 40K+ Chevy.

Compared to the rest of the EV market, the Volt is selling ridiculously well.

Dealers could always help out by pushing them more. Many people spend 30ish on Malibu's and Impala's and with the 7500 credit it brings the Volt down to 33.5K or so. The gas savings over the course of the vehicle even it out, not to mention make people feel like they're doing good. But every new tech costs a lot in the beginning, it'll come down.
