You just have to laugh at the absurdity of it and move on. Yeah, it's goofy and sometimes downright moronic the way some things are designed, but if your blood pressure only ever rises because of something that insignificant, then I'd say you're leading a pretty awesome life. Am I right?

The better design is the light bulb that never has to be changed.

All of the design has manufacturing process in mind, with little concern for serviceability. They wanna slap these cars together as fast as they can, with as little cost as possible. If some process will save $.02, even at the risk of creating difficult service later on, they will opt to save the $.02. It's 100% about profit.

I'd ask if they have ever heard of a phillips screw head.

Too easy. Make it a security torx screw.

The interior fasteners are even worse. Everything is pushed together with some sort of one-time use fragile plastic bit.

They want you to have to bring it in to be serviced so they make more money. Thats why alot of the stuff now a days is harder to DIY.

no harder today than 25 years ago. same idiocy in design back then..

ever try to change the side markers on a '71 Mustang, or a '69 Vette, or a '78 Trans Am..

same idiocy, different era.

now I hard a Girlfriend back in high school that had a 1971 Mustang, her starter went out on the highway.. engaged itself.. and poof..

changed that puppy on the side of the road in 20 minutes without a jack.

of course that was back when I weighed 125 pounds soaking wet and could actually slide under a car..

Yeah... not EVERYTHING fits nicely. While the headlights on my '02 Silverado are so easy to change that I do them just for fun on weekends, the heater core is a different story. Requires removal and seperation of every single part on the entire vehicle except for the filaments in one of the taillights, and the manual even says that the heater core job will be easier if you just go ahead and remove that filament, too.

I had a 79 mustang with a 4 cyl and you could almost stand in the engine bay and work on it LOL.
