I want something 4wd and reliable and more utility since im gonna just use it for trail riding with some mud holes and lil bit of rocks and trees and such. After reading about can am's a lil bit i found they dont seem to be super reliable after i did a lil more digging about them. What do yall think about the Yamaha Grizzly700 or a artic cat or polaris Atv?

The Grizzly has the same basic engine as the Raptor so modding will be easy, proven and reliable. This being said it will be outgunned by the larger utility quads while stock.

1st choice, Polaris Sportsman 850 is a tank and will still pull the front wheel of the ground. Then the Sportsman 800. You'd need to ride the Sportsman 550 to see if it has enough power for you. IMO the Sportsman has a better ride and handle's better than the Grizzly. The Grizzly's suspension is a little soft, but is still a good atv. Then the Honda's, which are under powered, but very reliable as well. Those would be my picks. Try to test ride a few of them to judge for yourself. The dealer probably won't let you test ride the new one's, at least in my area they don't at the dealership, but will for the used ones. So you can get some idea of what you want. I'd buy new, stay away from used unless you really know the person who owned it. Get a winch, for the rare instance when you get stuck. If your not in a hurry to get one, watch for special deals where they offer a winch or accesories for free or cheap.

The Transmission is a cartridge type trans so no case splitting to remove. The trans is very strong ,I've never had an issue with one. Also the engine oil tank is in the two frame side spars.A great idea until you munch an engine and spew metal into the frame, then its a PITA to clean. |
