As stated: lighter weight, more agressive gearing and similar power means the Mustang will win(usually). On the street though, it's a drivers race and it just depends on who doesn't spin the most.
and who can slam the gears faster!

Actually, the fast list for the new 5.0 is pretty much dominated by the 3.31 geared cars, not the 3.55 or 3.73 cars. And it's not so easy to just pick out one feature that makes the camaro turn in slightly slower times. It's a combination of things, from the IRS rear to the extra 200+ lbs of weight, a bunch of things add up to make it look like the camaro is slower.

Even simpler than that. The people at Ford are apparently a little more in tune with their public than the people at GM, where the wheels move a little slower. No pun intended.

I think the IRS makes the biggest difference. When you get on the gas there is so many more ways for the power to be squished out into deflection and twisting of parts

I'd agree with that. It's mostly the SRA.

Why does so many members on here put down the Camaro? The next thread over shows a stock SS beating the 5.0 by a decent margin, then we ask why the Camaro cant beat the 5.0 the very next thread? The 1le defeats the Boss by a good margin, then on that same thread members ask when will the make a camaro that will hang with the boss, when the thread is about the 1le beating the boss.

The camaro is put down the most by memebers of this forum. It is respected on many other forums, but here it is degraded the most. Im not trying to start an argument just sharing my opinion.

YUP, drag racing in the glassy quarter as I call it is not as easy as many may think. I personally think the drag strip is a stupid place to prove who is faster since there is too much slipping and," damn I almost veered into the wall when my rear lost it" crap going. This almost happened to me last week. I am personally done going to that crappy prepped strip in NH just saying, at the strip you can never really run 110% like on road surface. I actually ran a 18.7 at like 93mph run because my car had no freaking grip what so ever, I even saw a current AUDI S4 went sideways . When you see STIs running as slow as an SS with serious slip issues like my first run then it is time to go to another track or stay off that strip. Now I am not pushing street racing but on that type of surface slip is not a real issue with that said an abandoned runway would be the perfect place to run. And if you drop the weight of an SS it would rival or beat a GT in MPH trap speed. My L99 trapped the same as the GTs I ran against but my times sucked in comparison and that L99 would get smoked by my current LS3.

Honestly if you analyze other tracks the BOSS 302 LS ran on you will see that in comparison it isn't as slow as many would seem in comparison to the 1LE. I personally think on other tracks the 1LE is going to loose to the BOSS LS. The ZL-1 doesn't beat the BOSS on all tracks do your research and see. And honestly even with gearing the 1LE isn't going to trap what the BOSS 302 traps in the quarter.

I don't think anyone is putting the Camaro down. That video is a M6 SS vs auto 5.0 from a roll, I think at the strip the outcome would be a bit different. I would gladly trade a few tenths at the drag strip for a competent IRS in my Mustang. I don't want a travesty that Ford tried to pass off on Cobra owners in previous years.

The 2011/12 cars and 2013s run the exact same times.

More power? What did they do? Add an intake kit and give it 5 HP?
