Well it looks like just 2 cars are dodge right now. Penske(sp) owned and he is switching to ford next year. So no teams would be using them.

What a proud moment this must be for Nascar, they let perhaps the least performance oriented manufacturer in the world in for the money, now they are losing dodge who is essentially the last "working class" company that offers a rwd with a v8 in a sedan. I know Dodge was not a primary team in Nascar any longer but this is disappointing for sure.

Hell, has toyota EVER even made on OHV V8? Proud heritage there

I'd rather see Toyota go away in NASCAR than Dodge. Call me old school but I think NASCAR should only have American car manfacturers competing.....even though all the cars are identical anyways.

For never really having a lot of teams racing them, Dodge did rather well during it's time in NASCAR. You also have to remember Dodge also left the sport once before back in 1977 and didn't return till 2001.

The BIG Three totals:
General Motors [Chevy, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Buick]: 1,021
Ford [Ford, Mercury, Lincoln]: 706
Chrysler [Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler]: 461

Those numbers aren't bad for being non existent in NASCAR for close to 25 years.

Sad to say, but there are NO "American" car manufactures in NASCAR any more. There all "global" just like Toyota...

I had a feeling someone was going to mention something like this. I'm simply talking about American car brands. For over 60 years, NASCAR has traditionally been an all-American manufacturer sport. It's only recently (Toyota in 2007) when an imported brand was introduced in NASCAR.
If you are referring to the "global" chassis of today's production cars (foreign and domestic), it is irrelevant. Modern NASCAR chassis and drivetrains are all engineered and built in America. NASCAR cars have nothing in common with production cars.
Don't get me wrong....I appreciate the racing heritage and global achievements of Toyota, Honda, Subaru, Nissan, etc. They just don't belong in NASCAR.

Dodge leaving NASCAR? I think it is actually the other way around....NASCAR leaving Dodge. All their teams dumped them and switched to other manufacturers. I think Penske may have been the last one. With them switching, Dodge is out not by choice, but by default.

While I am with you in not liking Toyota in NASCAR, I can't help but point out the irony that of the four "brands" (Camry, Fusion, Impala, Charger), the Toyota is the only one built in the US (and has the highest US part content by far), while the others are either Mexico or Canada. If the point is only to allow American built brands in, it could technically be argued that Toyota is the only one meeting the criteria, while Ford, Chevy, and Dodge do not.
