I said no, only because it's a widely-known fact that it's not going to happen. Period. There will probably not even be a refresh of the Zeta now that things are the way they are.

The Camaro is the last of the RWD for the forseeable future folks (from GM).

Well there are 4 police districts interested in them. About 40,000 cars a year just for those districts. That would be a dang good reason to rebadge.

It was an opinion question, what you would like to see vs. what you think is going to happen.

CAFE may not be as bad for the camaro as everyone may think. If the current V6 gets 29MPG, with some improvement and weight loss the standards shouldn't be a problem for the v6 atleast.

No let it die. They have enough performance cars.

If you want a sedan drive a Malibu or Cobalt SS.

They need less cars but of a higher quality. Like the Camaro and Malibu.

Too many models is just not gonna cut it nowdays. Too expensive to make and service.

Probably wouldn't be marketed as a performance car if it was rebadged as an Impala.

And Cobalt SS is dead.

Bottom line: GM needs a full size sedan to compete with the Taurus...and the current Impala doesn't cut it at all.

If they were to re badge it as the impala I would only want the Pontiac Arrow changed with a Chevy bow tie that's all..

It makes me sad to see it go

Bingo. The new Taurus is going to blow away the Impala in sales. Hell, any other full size sedan does. The Wbody platform hasnt changed except in wheelbase since 1988.

Only car in GMs stable that is going to be remotely close to the Taurus is the Lacrosse.

LaCrosse blows away the Taurus with the exception of the SHO...but at a higher price point and different targeted consumer base.

Unfortunately, the last I heard, Lutz still thinks the current Impala is competitive...

Lutz is no more. (thank god) All he did was ride two American car companies to their death and then jump ship.

LaCrosse is FAR more expensive than the Taurus will be and the Taurus will be aimed at middle class families and not older couples wanting a smooth car.

Also, how can it blow it away when the new Taurus isnt even out yet? Current models, yes. The new ones, I think Im gonna have to put my cash on the 2010 Taurus outselling everything.
