Usually if they see a nice car parked in the distance they can assume the owner is just as concerned about their car as they are and well... there's safety in numbers. lol

My thinking as well. I've parked near other well kept cars in the distant parts of the lot to lessen the chance of Soccer Mom's minivan and Cletus' truck boxing me in.

Unless the guy in the beater is a complete dbag, probably wouldn't happen. I agree with it is just respect if no one is around you for miles there is no need to park right next to someone.

I just don't trust people as well, even if you don't mean to ding someone's doors doesn't mean it can't happen by accident or your passenger be aware of it. Why not just remove all chance?

overthinking things? I'm with those who say he probably just wanted a safer spot to park just like you. I know people who will park by my Camaro when I'm at work and come find me to tell me "I parked by your car to keep it safe for you"

You have nice co-workers. When I do drive mine in I usually get at least one person come by my office jokingly saying "I accidentally clipped your Camaro in the parking lot." I'm always like

I know its safe though because I always park around the same people who I know would never do anything to it.

I always park next to cars I like and respect, and hope for the same in return. Beats parking beside an empty spot and coming out to find a beat-up van beside you.

I can't decide if this was supposed to be an 'eff you' , or perhaps a 'hey this will look badass with our two cars parked side by side back here' type of move. Anyone ever have a situation like that?

The one thing that made me happy is I know the side of my car he parked next to was safe since he certainly wasn't going to open his door into mine and damage his own car.
It was a compliment to your car, he obviously feels the same about his Mustang as you do your Camaro!

Nothing wrong with that. Some folks who really appreciate their cars will do this.

I guess I have to wonder why so many think its a "finger in the eye", when people do this?

Goodness Sakes, we should lighten up a bit.

Parking one space away seems like a good idea, but there are a number of a**holes in beaters that won't be able to resist the opportunity to pull in between two nice cars...

Yep, that's why I go next to it. Then we both know one car will be safe...well unless the Camaro (or whatever nice car it is) hates Fords with a passion and keys me when he returns first.

I was at work the other day, and I had a clear view of my car, and this guy in his mustang parked next to me, got out and was looking at my car for a good 5-10 minutes just staring, then walked away.
