I agree. That "no Fords" thing is just completely ridiculous. Ford makes great cars.

I use to to be a die hard GM fan, thinking every Ford just flat out sucked, and I would never own one. Then I turned 13.

Cool story, bro.

I don't want a Ford because I have had family and friends that have had bad experiences with them. Same reason I wouldn't buy an Audi. You see enough bad situations, you tend to steer clear. Make sense?

Now take your trolling and 'epic wins' and head back to your "world of Warcraft" forum.

Hmmm, what if i told you that ive owned many many cars from Ford to GM to Chrysler, and yanno what ive found? The percentage of "bad experiences" is pretty much the same between all of them.

How about you and other people like you stop blindly supporting a single american company and support them all, maybe then american sales would go up.

I cant stand people who blindly support ford or gm or chrysler. Especially GM and chrysler because they had big brother bail them out and they keep moving procuction to china.

dont get me started.

I love GM , but I also love all American cars.

There's people on this site that have had their engines replaced with under 10,000 miles. That didn't stop you from buying a Camaro.

Have you considered a legacy? Decent gas mileage with great all weather capabilities, a pretty nice interior and they can be had for cheap.

Oh Really? Well, you know what I can't stand? Idiots that start an argument for no reaon and also have no idea what they are talking about.

Read my OP. You know those cars I mentioned that I would pick up for a couple grand and flip at the end of the season when I was done? Those were Honda's, Toyota's, and hell - I even owned a Renault.

I never said I was only 'blindly supporting' one brand. I just said I did not want a Ford.

I know, reading is hard.

See sig.

I bought my first Camaro when I was 19. The previous owners didn't take care of the car, but I cleaned it up and did some work and the thing always ran great.

The Trans Am WS6 I built was an absolute monster, also ran great. Never had a problem.

I had a TBSS. Hated the thing, had tons of problem. My buddy got the same truck and also had and still has lots of problems. Therefore, I rule that out (also mentioned in my OP).

See the pattern? Cars/brands I have good luck with, I have faith in and continue to support. Cars I have problems with, I tend to avoid in the future.

Can we get off our soapboxes now and stop arguing for the sake of arguing? I asked for suggestions, and I am allowed to have my own thoughts and preferences, just like you are. Welcome to America. You can love Fords all day long. That's fine with me. However, it is not the brand for me.

Let it go.

No, those two didn't actually. Re-read. Only one of them suggested an Eagle before they jumped on me about not wanting a Ford.

The guy who actually recommended the Ford, I said I had considered it because it was in the class I wanted, but I preferred not to get a Ford.

Ok here are my suggestions for you.

-A used First Gen Ford Fusion, reliable, probably right in your price range. And dont try to tell me there have been issues with this car because there have not been.

- If I were ever to consider a foreign car it would be a Subaru, especially Legacy or Outback if you need more room.

- In my opinion used Hondas and Toyotas are over priced. I dont want to hear about the "but they are so reliable." They do have that history yes but people still price gauge the crap out of people over them.

- A mid 2000's Ford Explorer as someone else suggested, super reliable, ive owned one.

I could suggest more Fords but I wont cuz i know you will just ignore them. cuz yanno, Fords suck so much worse than GM and Chrysler.

Thank you.

Haven't looked at the Fusion too much, but I heard they are pretty good MPG. How do you think they would do in the winter? Think I can get a used one on the cheap?

I have heard good things about the Subarus, definitely worth a look. Good point.

The Honda's and Toyota's I have acquired over the years have done their job. Early 2000's Accords and Camrys have gotten me through the winters pretty well and I havent had a problem with them. Plus, they are so abundant you can get them real cheap. One of them I flipped to my GFs son, and he says the car is doing great. I never thought I would buy a Honda or Toyota, but they have served their purpose as a cheap winter ride.

That makes you the second to suggest a early 2000s Explorer. Maybe I will have to test the market on that. I do have a friend I haven't seen in awhile that has one. Maybe I'll give him a ring and get his opinions and experience.

I went from a 2004 Ford Explorer XLT to a Brand new 2006 Ford Fusion SEL. The only reason I did it was cuz gas was going up and I didnt need that huge Explorer for any reason at the time.

The Fusion does well in the winter, no problems what so ever. The only reason I got rid of my Fusion was becuase I got a great deal on a Mustang which I got into an accident with.

Looking back, the 2006 Fusion was the best all around car (car meaning car and nothing bigger) I have EVER owned. If I had not traded it in for the Mustang I would still be driving that Fusion today, seriously, its that good of a car.

And that being said, had gas never gone up, I would sill be driving my 2004 Explorer today. They are seriously good trucks.

Allright then, I'm going to take a look at both. My commute to work roundtrip is 12 miles a day. So while it would be nice to have better MPG, it certainly isn't a requirement. An SUV would be nice to haul more of my crap around with.

I can't lie and say that all the Mike from Dirty Jobs commercials haven't peaked some interest in the Fusion!

Something else about the Fusion, you can get optional AWD onv^ models. Subarues are good too. When my brother was looking was for a car he would consider nothing but AWD. Drove a last gen Legacy (09 maybe) and I liked it all but the power, would certainly go turbo or H6. A kind of off thewall suggestion would be a 10 or new Jeep patriot. The only real issue I have had wih mine is ball joints, but that was supposed to be fixed for 10. ALso 09+ has a MUCH nicer interior. I would also suggest the 5 speed manual/FD1 4x4 system. Mine has been the absolute best winter vehicle and I have goteen over 30 MPG out of it.
