Are you sure that Chrysler dealers cannot appeal? Here is something that was printed by a newspaper talking about a couple of the dealers closing.

Chrysler LLC wants to eliminate two Vermont Chrysler or Jeep dealers as part of its bankruptcy reorganization.

Rutland Dodge in North Clarendon and Walker Motors in Montpelier are on a list of 789 dealers nationwide that Chrysler proposes eliminating because it says it has too many. The company makes Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

The dealers on the proposed cut list can appeal.

Walker owner Wade Walker says Jeep sales account for about 25 percent of his business, which was already down 40 percent. He says losing that would hurt.

But he says he’s working with a number of other dealers to appeal the decision.

Can someone explain to me what cost is incurred by, say GM, for keeping a dealership open? I thought all dealerships were responsible for their own expenses and profitability, not GM. Other than the cost to ship a vehicle to the dealership, what does it cost GM?

if you read into another article it says that if chrysler (or GM) declares bankruptcy there isnt anything dealers can do because the dealers are not a part of the company they are independently owned and operated. the same reason why preorders arent getting their cars in the order that they signed up is the same reason that the dealers cant really do anything.

The dealer I bought my car from is getting the axe. A shame, because whenever I bring it in for maintenance, I always get great service there. It's a 20 mile drive through Spaghetti Junction and across the river, and there are at least three other Dodge dealers that are closer, but I always took it to them because they earned my business.

It's a smaller place though so I expected it was going to be closed. So I'd figured I'd make plans to take it to a certain dealer nearby if they showed up on the list. But my alternate is getting shut down too.

The first dealer I thought of before I even opened that file was Cook Jeep on Main St. It's in the middle of the hood, is the size of most small used car lots, and never has anyone looking around in the lot. Not that I've seen anyway.
