Never liked them from the start. Shedding no tears for its discontinuation.

I don't see a real loss here. I agree, they were ugly and the function was too limited. At the end of the day people either want a full SUV or a full truck bed I guess. Sometimes to only have partial of both leaves you in need.

But that's just my opinion having never owned one.

What exactly does the avalanche do for you that

doesn't?

Only difference is the avalanche is redundant and ugly and I would give my left testy for that truck.

Avalanche gives you the option to extend the bed into the cab. It was fairly innovative for the time.

Considering how you can't get a long bed with a GMT-900 crew cab, Avalanche offered some flexibility.

The Avalanche was like having the luxury of a SUV but with a function of a full size truck bed!! I owned an Avalance from 11/08-08/11. Trailered a boat, moved ton of stuff in the bed,and it was comfortable on long road trips!! Still wish I kept my last Avalanche but my love of the Camaro was alot more!!

I always thought they were like a suburban with a handy open back. We stuck two motorcycles in the back of one. It's a shame they will be discontinued.

I own one, I have had two. I bought a 2002 Z66 only a year after getting a 2000 Silverado crew cab. It rode much better, prolly because of it being built on a Suburban frame. I also had a boat and found the locking rear section to be perfect for wakeboards, wakes surfers, wet life jackets, what ever. There is build in drainage in the bed, so it never gets funky, but it is watertight. I used to camp at the lake in the back of it. You could fold down the mid-gate, pop the back window out and be perfectly comfortable in it. The 04 Z71 has towed the boat all over the south and across the country a few times and from SoCal to Lake Powell for vacations. I always had room for 4 plus all our crap. for some it works, just depends on needs of the person.

That's one less Body-On-Frame vehicle option from GM that I have to pick from. Sorry to see it go.

Well considering mine easily gets 20 mpg on the highway makes it pretty good for a truck. It's also par with my SS when driving around town.

I bought mine in 2007 and its been very versatile. Its the same body style as a Suburban and Tahoe and looks great. I've used it as a pick-up and an SUV. The bed "locks" and the interior is comfy and easily hauls 5 people. I have had 6 adults inside of it several times. It was a great vehicle and we are disappointed about the discontinuation.
