Burton Smith knows a thing or two about owning and operating track facilities. Guys like him don't make moves like this without having a well thought out plan. A couple paragraphs on AutoBlog aren't going to give a full explanation but I would assume that the entire 8000 acres around the track would be heavily developed. That is a lot of business real estate that would be attractive to a lot of potential customers.

Better yet, they can build it in Washington, and have it straddle the Cascades. It could be raining on the west side, snowing in the middle, and warm and dry on the east end. Now that would be an ultimate test of driver and car.

Bruton Smith is very good at getting what he wants and if anyone can make this happen he will.

I'm not against the idea, in fact, I think it's great too...

Ascari's owner built his track in Spain copying all of the best corners from around the world... so can't see why it wouldn't be possible to rebuild an entire track.

And at least you guys wouldn't have an excuse anymore to say "it's across the pond, what do we care about 'Ring times"

Now... erhm... Excuse me, I'm off to find some investors to build a European Laguna Seca...

There'd be cost-effective benefits for some Manufacturers...

They already do their hot-weather testing in that area...Death Valley isn't all that far away...

And, after all, how much could 8,000 acres of sand/scrub from BLM co$t?!

They could call it "Automotive Area 51"...put in a man-made lake, called Bruton Beach...

The possibilities are ENDLESS...
