When you take off from the light, it switches back to a hearty exhaust note and that engine revs to redline as your tires spin ferociously.

That would be awesome. It would still have all the power and sound of a high hp tire shredding musclecar. But, it would have an electric side that could run to save on gasoline. I'd take that.
Problem is, thats the least efficient way to make a hybrid. internal combustion is good for highways, electric is good for acceleration. The bottom line is, if you want the throaty roar of a V8 when you accelerate then a hybrid isn't the best option.

Unless.....the Hybrid was programmed differently...fyi, this is totally speculative (and assuming that it used a more powerful electric motor than current hybrids)

Think, sort of along the lines of AFM, except more fuel-efficiency agressive.

1-70 under WOT conditions (racing), pure motor. 1-70 under light throttle, pure electric...anything above 70 regardless of condition; motor.

So if you're drag racing, you get full motor the whole time. If you're cruising out of your driveway to the thruway, you get an electric ride.

Now that I think about it, I could basically floor it everywhere I go with no increadibly loud rumble of the exhaust. If it were electric, it would just zip from stop to very fast w/ no sound at all. You all know what I mean...you are stopped...look around....see no police....and let it go. Now, you don't have to worry about looking around. The noise of flooring it is usally what draws attention. Pure electric on accelleration means no loud noise and not too much worry about someone taking notice.

Unless you squeal those tires under all that electro-torque

I think it would be cool to have electric motors powering the front wheels, adding to the acceleration-ability. lol either way i want one.... if they would just make the damn thing already.
