you could always do what I do and refer to lexus' as chromed up, overpriced Toyotas (and Acuras chromed-up, over priced Hondas). That always ticks them off. the old, "I wouldn't pay an extra 5 grand for a name" argument. ( It really works on Audi A4 owners who really drive a Jetta with 4 rings on the grille instead of one)

And as for the Prius thing, you could quote the study done about 6 years ago that found(with spotty research and a few far reaches streatches of for full disclosure), for the same environmental damage of building a Prius and shipping it to the US, you could build and drive a Hummer H2 for 5 years.... that REALLY upsets the tree huggers!

Truth... I think the Prius drivers of the world are so caught up in their "save the environment" mumbo jumbo that they think they are more important then everyone else becuase they think they are doign their part and it should be everyone elses responsibility to do so as well. No one ever steps back and looks at the why we have truck and camaros and whatnot... all they see it they have done their little part and you should too... its bullshit really... the worst thing you can do for the envirnment is buy a new car PERIOD.

I think next time I go out in the camaro and see a Prius driver, I am going to screw with them... just to get a rise out of them...

Just get right into...

Oh, you have a prius... how do you like it? .... glaze over while they answer... then ask if its good on gas in a "Im really interested tone"... glaze over again... then get to the kicker.... and say oh really.... well do you have any clue how many natural resourses were destroyed shipping that thing half way around the world so you could get a few more MPG than a US built Chevy Cruze or Ford Focus...??? I bet they get pissed and huff off.

The great irony is that these eco-freaks never consider everything you mentioned about what does into producing and shipping that Prius. The even greater irony is that a hybrid is total waste of money that you'll never see a return on with MSRP markup vs what you would pay for a conventional gas engine sub-compact.
