Some was double data but strange like, I was making MP3s out of CDs when it happened, so for a few days I was at it. Windows media player gave each folder/ file that default name unknown artist 1/1/11 track1.mp3 track 2.mp3....... so I would go in and rename each folder / file with the right info.

Well it "found" copies of both, in the folder i was working would be a full copy of the folder and files before and after renaming, even days after. And they played right. It found allot of stuff like that, it knew it was renamed or moved yet on back up rip of the bad drive it gives you a copy for each one.

Actually it found way way to much stuff, ended up just nuking allot of the data once I went several months not missing anthing.

Probably not from the forum. Often when you delete a virus it can come back. Probably best to do a low level format and start over. Back up anything important of course.

I had some crazy adware or virus that every time I opened up Internet Explorer or Firefox, it would automatically direct me to some marveloussystemclean sh!t, and would download 3 trojan virus's.

I had to wipe and restart my hard drive.

Been good since.

Which can transmit the infection as well... I've seen plenty of cases where the infection was smart enough to copy itself in to areas that would be included in a back up and the new machine becomes infected upon restore.

The only time I heard of people claiming they got a virus from Camaro5 is when they've been RickRolled and didn't know what it was.

Gee, this thread makes me feel old and computer dumb. Reading this stuff is like trying to read Spanglish when you can't understand the Spanish part. I wish I could borrow some of you young computer savy guys to fix up my laptop before I hurl it out the door!
