It is near impossible to hit speedboats with the weapons the USN has on their ships.

I bet they could find something to hit them with. A 50cal machine gun on a helicopter should put enough lead out there to do the trick.

It's actually CIWS (Close In Weapon System). And yes, with the latest mod to it it can now track surface vessels.

I was referring more to 5" 54 cal, 25 "mike-mike", .50 cals all over the place, and for longer range larger vessels nothing smacks home like a good old fashioned surface-surface missile.

I never really understood the rediculous international law of no weapons on board. Kinda like the whole "gun free zone" idea. Criminals don't follow the laws, their going to do whatever the hell they want to. I work in the marine business, and know many of my customers who travel to the islands are armed with with their own AR15s and AK47s. Evens the odds quite a bit...

But I hope their not being treated like the victims from all of this. They know right from wrong. It's only a matter of time before a cruise ship or major passenger ship is pirated and more people start to be killed. They need to be hunted and destroyed.
I agree it needs to be stopped -and quickly, but understanding the problem makes for a better solution. I don't consider them the victims, they were the victims at one point but now they do it to make money not as self defense. And no matter how you cut it, the UN dropped the ball on this.
