I would replace all of the red exterior trim with matte black trim. The wheels, grille surround, roof, mirrors, and spoiler would all be super simple since they are actually separate components that can easily be repainted individually. The only hanging point would be the side tape stripes, and I already discussed that with my preferred paint and body guy who said that having these replicated in matte black and removing the originals should be no big deal.
A friend has one. Yep, I am not too crazy about the side striping either but I don't mind it in the silver Laguna Seca. They are easy enough to remove though. I tell you, I am not a straight line kind of car guy, I love roads with many bends and I have owned and driven many cars at Laguna Seca and weekend fun around Santa Monica mountains and I rate the Laguna Seca among the top of best handling cars I have sampled. The Lotus Elise Exige is my top pick.

Crazy price on the Boss. I was offered a brand new 12 GT500 for $46,500.00 a few months ago.

When the 2013 gt500 is released (zl1 competitor) the boss markups will drop dramatically. I would wait until then if you're considering one, or check the MSRP dealers on mustang forums. They have a great network of dealers that are willing to work with members on better prices.

Won't the Boss still be a limited production car? (and in 2013 on its last year of production?) I can't see the markups slowing down that much, if so...

see the thing with Ford is..limited production doesn't always mean limited. Good example, 2007 Shelby GT500...they built it up to be a limited production to 2009 and dealers were marking them up like crazy..well, we know the rest.

Hm. I didn't know that. I am correct in my reading, though - they've said they were only going to produce two model years of Boss up to 8000 cars, total?

Ford may very well stick to that, especially now that customers in CARB states can't get the "red key" programmed because doing so makes the car non-emissions legal...unless they want to lose their warranty, in which case, they might as well get it dyno tuned properly. Many customers bought the Boss because of the red key and now they can't even use it. Nevertheless, the Boss Laguna Seca @ 250+- units/year, will be limited no matter how many years they run production on the Boss.

whoops...meant to ask a question...fat-fingered it... "Am I correct in my reading?"

Sounds good, though...when I saw that car in the dealer...I really didn't care for the over-the-top color scheme, but I appreciate what it represents. It was cool to see it sitting there next to a Lincoln ...

Ouch. That would sting for a car that will be worth $30K in a couple years...
